Yesterday in the Annapolis Mall T-Mobile store they had the 6133 on display with the pricing info up. On the sign it had a sticker that said "SPECIAL ORDER ONLY". Nobody in the store knew why but I suppose it was because they still don't have them to sell yet. Anyway, the regular price on the sign was $199 and the price for new accounts (and should also be the price for qualifying upgrades) is $99. That was good news to see that since a few weeks ago I almost bought a 6131 on ebay for $250. One employee at the store told me he thinks they pushed the release back to October 2nd (as someone else on this forum already mentioned) to coincide with new rate plans that T-Mobile is coming out with. Greatly appreciate the update...

Hoping the prices of the 6131 will drop on eBay once this phone is released as I would really prefer and unbranded/unlocked phone.

After complaining to Cingular when they asked why I hadn't upgraded my service plan in some time (because they offer a lousy selection of phones!) the customer service person said that he has had several customers try the following...whether or not you can get someone to go along with you is another story:

If you buy a phone at full price from a carrier, they should provide you with the company's unlock code for that phone. You can then take it to any carrier operating on that phone's frequencies.

...He told me that several of his customers did that with the motorolla PEBL.

The 6133 lists at $199 with T-Mobile which is a good bit cheaper than anyone else has it for...might be worth at least asking.

so then would cingular lock it on to there network or would you just be using the 6133 as an unlocked phone?
some features that the carriers offer dont always work with an unlocked phone- ie; i got an unlocked razr v3i in december of last year, yet i cannot send MMS or use the internet bc it is unlocked and cingular pretty much is a POS, but i live with it. thats why if it comes out from tmobile, i would rather just switch to them :\

Actually I misread the pricing. The sign actually says the regular price is $279, the price with activation is $199 and after rebate it is $99.
