All,

How exactly can this phone be canceled by any carrier, Cingular included, if Nokia has not released the phone (per the nokiausa.com website and via phone)?

Nokia has released the phone. The only carrier in the US that has it in their line-up is SunCom.

If the phone passed all the tests from the carrier, Cinuglar, then it would have changed on the Nokia wesbite saying that Cingular now is carrying the phone.

But since it has not passed the testing stages,nokiausa.com hasn't changed the status of the phone.

So, by YOUR logic, carriers like Cingular can not test phones prior to the manufacture release date and they have to immediately put them into the line of currently offered phones once released by the manufacture. Good thing you do not work for Cingular’s product development group… Nokia announce long ago that the phone would be coming. At some point shortly after that Cingular put it into testing as a phone that they may release in their line up. The phone fail their testing so they CANCLED it from their line up. FYI – Nokia has released it to two US carriers.

I believe the point spirit was trying to make is if 2 US carriers, as YOU stated above have this phone then why does it still say coming soon on Nokia's website. That has absolutely nothing to do with Cingular. Cingular obviously is not the only carrier that purchases nokia phones.

Yes, as stated above is exactly what I meant. nbky1cp, there was no need to be sarcastic...I was just asking a question. I believe that is allowed in these forums 🙄 ...

The point I am making is that Nokia does not have to officially release a phone before they allow carriers to test them. Moreover, when a carrier like Cingular puts a phone into testing they often times announce that the phone is coming like they did in this case. This phone failed Cingular’s testing so they canceled it from their list of phones "coming soon"
