I recently purchased an unlocked w810 directly from the Sony Store and I'm using it with Cingular. I have noticed one issue. The phone works fine with almost no dropped calls. However, whenever I am making or receiving calls in a crowded room, airport, etc., the microphone seems to pick up these other voices and temporarily mutes the caller on the other end, making the call very choppy and staticky. When I move to a quiet environment, the call comes through crystal clear. Has anyone else had this issue? Keep in mind that this is in regular phone mode and not using the speakerphone.

My W810i also cuts out when I call my voicemail if I make a constant humming noise while listening to a voicemail. I just tried it.

I have the latest version of firmware, RDB0005. I think we need to email Sony and complain that this issue be fixed in the next firmware update.

Thanks for letting me know! Here is the response I got from Sony. Maybe it's not a defect after all....

"Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.

This would be a feature of the phone to attempt to minimize the background noise while on a call. At this time, it does not look like there are a defect with the phone which may be causing this issue. If you are not satisfied with this product, please contact your dealer for available options".

if u read the review on this phone at cnet.com the person reviewing the phone mentions how this phone has a sensitive microphone. He say the microphone picks up alott of background noise so the problem with ur phone is normal acoording to cnet.
