camera and zoom please help

on my phone the zoom of the camera doesn't work and i tried pushin up on the navigation key but yet it still does not zoom, however it works for the video recorder, the zoom does not show up in the camera but does in the video? how can i fix this?

If you have your camera resolution set at 1.3 megapixel, you can't use the zoom. If you set it lower, it should show up.
