Playing MP3 through Bluetooth Headset????

I was out today and picked up the Gennum nXZEN BT Headset to try. I was reading the limited information on the package and it mentioned playing MP3 files in stereo and included an extra ear bud. Since there was a 21 day return policy, and I've read this is an excellent BT HS, I decided to pick it up.

Turns out, to play the MP3 files, you have plug in the audio interface cable they provide, one end into the plug in your XV-6700 (or whatever device), the other into the port for the power plug on the BT HS. There is another ear bud attached to this cable for your other ear.

Problem is, the plug on the audio interface is too big for the connector on the XV-6700. Do they make an adaptor for this?

Are there any BT head sets out there ...

Yes and no. There are a lot of bluetooth headsets and headphones on the market today but it all depends on the phone or pda device. Not all phones have the ability to transmit songs over bluetooth, but I can tell you right now there is only one Verizon phone I know of that will actually send any sound other than voice and was the Nokia 6255. Other carriers don't disable the bluetooth features like greedy Verizon does, so if you're looking for bluetooth music you might want to avoid this phone on Verizon, though I can't be positive if the Sprint version will transmit audio either.

I can hear my audio files on my Jabra BT 250 fine. Although, I am planning on upgrading it to a more recent BT Headset. I hope that one will work. 🙂

When I use my BT headset, I hear music for a second and then the voice activated dialing program overrides it and cuts it off, is there anyway to disable this program so I can listen to music instead?

Go to www.trianglepowers.com/ppc6700

This website has a couple of programs that would solve your problem. They have Bluetooth Audio Today (for your Today screen) and one that acts alone as a separate app. I have used both and the Today screen one is much more convenient.

When you activate this program, it overrides your Bluetooth command and simply turns the Bluetooth on. You can hear all the clicks and everything including your MP3's through your headset.

Did some searching, found the technique for accomplishing this on another site. Cut and paste below:

While the PDA screen is still on (at the Today Screen)
Then press the button on your headset, it will turn on the connection.
Now Click anywhere on your PDA to make sure the "clicks" are heard on your headset.

Now go to your playlist, media player, whatever ... start your file playing, you'll hear it through the BT HS.

Press the Bluetooth headset button a second time to close the audio connection.

If you are playing a file on Windows Media Player, simply turn your headset on and you will hear it on your headset. Press it again to turn it off. It will stop on an incoming call and then start playing again after you finish your call.
