Correct, as far as locking the keyboard. But it will not turn on or off the phone itself. It also won't give you any of the other options the power button does.

Is it really that difficult to press? I've been hearing complaints, but i didn't know if they were true.

I actually like the way the button works. It will never be accidentally turned off in your pocket. All you have to do is "pull" the top edge of the button toward the screen. If you don't bite your nails it's a no brainer. Love the phone by the way. The only issue is there is not yet a solution to sync WM 5.0 with a mac.

I'm sure you have taken a look at Mark/Space (which puts out an incredible product at a relatively low price).

There current Windows Mobile doesn't support 5, however it will and their current development/beta specifically states the 2100/2125 as fully compatible.
