How's the E815 in low reception or fringe areas?

My wife and I just switched from Cingular TDMA to Verizon last week and bought a pair of Verizon Razrs. She even shelled out an extra $30 for the Pink one! Anyway, so far I have been less than impressed with the reception. We have little service in our house which will probably get worse as the leaves come out on the trees. We had none with Cingular and switched to Verizon after watching many friends answer their Verizon phones and carry on perfectly normal conversations in our home.

I was on the Easter Shore of Maryland on Saturday and compared my Razr to my father-in-law’s Verizon Motorola E815 and found that he had at least one if not two more bars as we drove though some notorious fringe reception areas. His phone rang when min...

The 815 is probably the best modern reception phone on the VZW lineup today.

That's one of the reasons I bought the e815 instead of the Razr.

I have had the e815 for about two weeks and love it. Where I work, the reception is poor, however, the e815 picks up reception clear and I have to experienced any drop calls. I would reccommend this phone.

I've heard on howard forums that the e815 and the razr both have about the same reception.

You could always try it and see.

Unfortunately, the only verizon phones I've heard of that might get better reception are Nokia candybar phones. If you're really desperate, you might be able to buy the old Nokia 3589i that verizon used to sell - it got fantastic reception (I can personally attest to that). Everything else about the phone was a little lacking though.

Obviously, the thing to do is probably to have your friends come over and try their phone, and if it works better than yours get their model.

If you really wanted reception in your home, you can get a Yagni antennae and a repeater, but that's a whole different subject and costs ...

I live in a very low signal area...and the e815 did okay, but not great, the razr was for sure worse though. the moto did not seem to lock on as good as my LG 8000 did. I have personally moved on to an Audiovox 9900.

That's the only audiovox I've ever heard consistently good things about! 😁

Do you actually have the phone right now - how well is it working?
