Insurance needs to be added within the first month, or the first 15 days (I don't recall which) after the phone was purchased. I ran into this when I updated my plan and purchased my 815, I asked for the insurance but it never went on my plan for some odd reason. The CS on the phone had to go into my account to see that I had asked for it when upgrading the phone.

I thought I saw a post (either or somewhere else) that Verizon wasn't going to allow insurance to be added to a phone outside of a certain time period. It was to keep people from breaking thier phones and getting replacements (or something to that effect).

I have not a clue if this is true but just re-posting something that I read, for all I know is that Verizon may allow you to do so.

Plain and simple.......... Just threaten to leave them. Watch how fast they decide to accommodate you. Doesn't matter how long you are into your contract. And if they they tell you that you have to pay full price for a phone, let them know it's cheaper to pay the $175 cancellation fee and sign up with another company that will accommodate you when you have a problem. We are all human and make mistakes. You just made a mistake and didn't add the insurance. So demand that you either let them give you the insurance and make good on it or otherwise you will leave. I have threatened them so many times I get whatever I want. Believe me it works. 😁

No. They ask at the time of the contract signing if you want the insurance. If you decline it, they make you initial that you declined it (and I'm sure the terms of the insurance decline are written right there). I'll re-read my last contract update, but I'm fairly sure they tell you that you need to request the insurance within 15 days. If it's not the paperwork I signed, it's certainly on the pamphlet about the insurance...

Like someone else said, are you the type of person to decline collision insurance on your car, then call the ins. company to add it after getting in an accident?

Verizon didn't drop your phone in water, YOU dropped your phone in water. Why should THEY pay for your mistake? Will you be the first to complain w...

They probably back down just because they don't want to deal with your tantrums. If I was working for VZW and had you pulled a rant like this, I'd give you the number of your cellular carrier of choice just to be rid of you. Better yet, I'd refer you to the terms and conditions of the contract you signed and tell you to shut up and go away.

This may come as a shock, but Verizon Wireless like all other carriers, is in business to make money. A part of this is delivering good customer service, but this does not include having to listen to someone ranting like a spoiled child. Assuming you took time to read the contract, you had a choice of accepting or rejecting the terms and conditions, including what features were avaiable and which were...

😛 You dropped it in the water, right? 😉

I know that sucks and I feel bad for you damaging your new phone, BUT, Verizon offered you insurance in the beginning to cover the unexpected accidents and you choose NOT to take it. I'm sure that $4.99/mo. for insurance seems cheap now against spending a LOT of money for a new phone. ☚ī¸

I have to agree with jim. It was your accident. I have four phones from Verizon and carry insurance on only one of those. This is a calculated risk though. The one phone I carry it on is a V710 and the replacement cost justified the coverage. The other three were the 49.99 phones and did not justify the cost since replacing the phone through insurance costs 50.00 plus the monthly fees. I can get a new phone for the same price with the same or slightly newer features. Not so with the V710, especially considering how much I travel and it's potential for loss.

This IS a reflection of CHILDREN not being held responsible for their own actions. These will be the same CHILDREN that will complain that the insurance costs to much to buy in...

Yes I have a problem with people like you always getting your way. People like you refuse to accept responsibility for your own decisions and actions and expect someone else to accept the blame. The truly unfortunate part is your mistake now costs me and every other HONEST person money. Because you lie and cheat to get an upgrade or a replacement when you do not need one you have now raised the price of the items across the board.
