What, exactly, is the point of an EVDO phone that takes forever to load menus? Pfft.

I noticed a huge difference between the 8100 that got replaced and the E815. The 8100 was much faster at downloads but it would also wind up buffering the video clips a lot more (another reason it got switched out).

yeah whats the difference between EVDO and 1x. I hacked my phone and took the EVDO off, so now its just 1x, and i have wayyy better battery life. I charged my batter last night. Its about 1:30 in the afternoon now, and i still have a full charge.. The only thing i always had a problem with ever sense i got my phone was: in my basement i get no connection at all, and that SUX!

When my phone is in 1X it took me about 3 minutes to open up the web brower, goto favorites, open up yahoo and check my e-mail and close out.

With EV, I can do the same thing in about 30-45 seconds in the D.C. area. It certainly helps when you are using your minutes to check e-mail.

I live in an EVDO area and most of the places I travel too are EVDO and my phone is fast. When I am traveling I use my E815 as a modem and when it is in EVDO mode it is as fast as my DSL at home.

I've actually found it's faster for me to check my email with the phone than it is for me to go start my computer, log in to the internet and open up yahoo.

Typing a response to an email is another story though.

hehe - Yeah, no kidding.

I don't have to constantly retype in my password with my phone, or boot up my computer, so it's actually faster to "check" my email through my phone. But good lord, I sent a 2 sentence email once, and it took me 2 minutes just to type it! (haha)

Maybe if I had the LG 9800? ;-) (I'm just joking around - I don't know anything about the 9800 except that it has a cool looking keyboard.)
