What's the bottom line. I have the V710 from Verizon and am not happy with it. I am due for an upgrade and was wondering which one of the two to get. Can anyone please give some advice. Someone preferably who has researched it or has had both. It's got to work well with Bluetooth.

I've owned both-- the 8100 for about three weeks and the 815 for over a month. I can't comment on the 8100 since it's software has been updated but I'm quite happy with the 815. I returned the 8100 because the bluetooth on it was full of static and having the phone flashed didn't help. I also had to issues with it recognizing names, numbers and commands. Bluetooth was one of the major reasons I bought the phone.

Those issues may have been taken care with the new software on the 8100 so perhaps they are now pretty close to each other, just depends on what you want.

I did own the V710 for about 2 days last year and returned it. The 815 is major step up--

E815 all the way. The keypad is much better than the V710 and larger keys than the 8100, reception is just as great as the V710 minus analog. The camera works well in all lights even low light (The V710 only worked in sunlight or bright rooms). The user interface is customizable.

ADVANTAGES OF THE E815 OVER THE 8100:
Better reception
Better call quality
Speakerphone works with the flip closed
Better camera in many lights
Larger Screen
Choice of 3 user interface skins (8100 makes you use Verizon's red interface)
More Bluetooth options
Playlists for MP3's
Larger keypad buttons

ADVANTAGES OF THE 8100 OVER THE E815:
Smaller size
Can read text messages on the external screen
Stronger build quality

Overall I think the E815 is ...

I had the 8100 and my son has the 815. I really liked the 8100 a little better but I just could not get past the problems even with the upgrade of the 8100. There is a volume problem with the 8100 that is not quite fixed yet. I ended up trading for the 815. Everything the reply's above are true. The 815 does not feel as solid as the 8100. I really wanted to keep the 8100 but if you can not talk, then why keep it as a MP3 player and hope they will fix things in another upgrade. 815 is just a touch bigger but it works really well and the signal strength is always 1 or 2 bars above the 8100. Good luck
