I have been looking at all the reviews and Lg people just cant stand that MoTo got over on this one, I mean come on lets be fair the 8100 cant compete with the 815..

I know. It is ridiculous on both sides. Many people look at these reviews to get a real idea of what the phone is like. I know that is what i did the last time that I got a phone. Its obvious when there are like 6 reviews in a row that are all zeros. Get a grip people. This site is about helping others make a good decision about getting a phone, not bashing the competition.

I don't think i would use the term "Jealous" but LG has had some major reception problems on this phone as well as others and it goes back to their stub antennas and it really started with their LG VX 6100 I'm not here to bash anyone. I am sure they will fix their issues as well. The stub antenna is just not a good antenna Motorola realized that and thats why they got rid of it so quick. The only phone LG had any success on it was the LG VX 7000. Also Verizon prefers the extendable (whip) antenna on their phone. I was lucky enough to test out a Motorola CDMA Razr which has a antenna embedded into the phone and it was better than a stub antenna and a extendable (whip) antenna but thats off the subject and that will be a AWESOME PHONE. I think that the e815 is a great phone. It has all the same features. The only problems that i would ever see it having is durability and only time will tell. If the e815 was built like a LG and maybe had a nicer outer display and customization I believe that it would win hands down.

Motorolas are the most durable phones out there don't be fooled. I can't tell you how many times Motorola phones have been dropped and the bounced right back. LG phones were dropped and that was the end of the story. I think someone on here said it best about the LG VX 8100 when the phone rings and the lights go off on the phone it looks like there is a disco party in the pocket of their pants. I mean come on what kind of feature is that its OK if you can deactivate it but you cant even do that. Thats not the kind of phone you can have in a work meeting and have all kinds of lights at the top of the phone flashing.

Nothing can describe the joy of the feeling while I opened up my moto to answer a call and have it feeling like it's going to fall into 2 pieces. They are so poorly put together, or at least the 2 that I had. The whole flip part of the phone slides back and forth a quarter inch open and closed. Now don't get me wrong I don't like the fruity disco lights either on the 8100, but I would have rather have disco lights than a useless front display. I need something that is going to last through my abusive lifestyle and moto has never done the job with the last 3 phones I've tried. If the e815 was built like the 8100 I would have not problem with it. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

I wanted the 8100 but 1. I didn't feel like waiting. 2. it was too much money. and 3. I had some issues with my vx6000 and was wanting to try something new. I had the v710 for about a month and then decided that I wanted to try this phone. I love it also. it feels like I would be terrified to drop it, but I did drop it for the first time a few days ago and there isn't even a scratch on it. I was very very relieved. I am having some speakerphone issues and it froze on me once. Othere than that I have been happy with the phone and was told that if it froxe again I could come in a return it for a new one. oh and I love the color. Not your average silver.

The Motorolas are built to be flexible like that so when you talk you have a little bit of flexibility on the phone its not a matter of it being built cheaply there is room for comfort. This issue was addressed before but once again it is pure preference and I've been through my share of LG's and thats why i stick with Motorolas and i respect your opinion and i hope you respect mine as well.

I respect YOUR opinion, motoman82, it's others on here that don't want to act like adults and be so inmature and won't let anyone have an honest opinion without saying something so childish back. Up until today, I have ignored the ignorant, childish replies, but am in a mood today and can't take it anymore. I apologize if I've also said some inmature childish things on here today (because I know I have and probably am not done quite yet but can admit when I'm wrong), but they are only in response to same. I know, two wrongs don't make a right, and I am contradicting myself by writing back some of the replies I have, but today, like I said, am in a mood and could care less right now. This is not directed to you, motoman82, but if anyone d...

I chose the 815 first and I have to say it's not a bad phone, just so cheap feeling! I could actually very lightly squeeze the bottom by the charging port and it would move as if it weren't "glued" together correctly, the hings is weak, moved back and forth especially when closed. Try taking the battery cover off, it was not only very difficult, but when I finally got if off it was so thin and odd shaped (cut around antenna, etc.) I thought I may have broke it. Big screen is nice, but when the phone is open it seems so huge! It was nice to see that I could put a pic on the outside display until I noticed how unclear it was and how the clock and everything else covered it anyway! Outside color is nice, a little boring, but nice to see "g...

Motorola kills LG! I dropped my e815 yesterday in the mall parking lot. 😒 Good news is that it bounced back and only got 1 scratch-no nicks. 😁 I would be afraid that the LG would be less flexible and just break into many pieces. Talk about construction, and why Moto designs their phones the way they do. 😁 😁

Oh,
so your saying they make it so it is already apart so when you drop it, you won't notice that it is possibly more apart? I had an LG6100 on top of my car when I pulled out of my driveway once and it not only flew off and slid all the way down my drive way, but also ended up bouncing in the street! Couple of scratchs but the battery didn't even pop out and it worked excellent!

Oh, excuse me ... 😑

What are you doing in the e815 forum anyway if you are in love with your LG?!

Number one, I would never purchase an LG, they look like something you would find in a kid's toy store ... Nothing professional about them. My e815's reception is 10 fold better than the LG's. You can't change the vocoder in an LG phone.

Number two, to make an LG VX8100, it costs around 20$ for the LG corp. to mass manufacture them. It costs Motorola $44 to make an e815. Hrmn, which is better; I presume the Motorola ...

Not only does the 'new' LG look like a child's toy, the old ones look like bricks. I would say, anyone in my Law Firm would be shot if they were seen with an LG phone. Either PDA's (OMG -- MOTOROLA MAKES PDA PHONES ...

I'm here because I CAN be! I had an 815 before my 8100 and even if I didn't it's a free world and I can read and/or post on any forum I want, same as you can!

You say you would never purchase an LG, well then you really have no right to compare the 815 and the 8100 then, because you obviously haven't had both to make a real comparison and if you have never had an LG, then how can you say your reception is 10 fold better? At least when I say things about both it's from first hand knowledge!

And I will say this again, I said before that if I were a business man I would rather be seen with an 815 on my hip then the 8100, but I am not a businessman, I am a hot Mom with a casual lifestyle and the LG fits my lifestyle better!

But very defensive and dare I say a bit of an obsessed LG apologist.

I was looking at the phones in the wireless kiosk at Costo and noted a lack of LG phones for Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. I asked the wireless manager why and he had said that the buyers for Costco and the company that runs the wireless kiosks at Costco (at least in the Northeast) don't feel that LGs are a viable option given the Costco lifetime return policy. They felt that too many would be coming back from dissatified customers.

So I guess the lesson is the it may be built like a rock, it has the reception of a rock.

After one week testing I exchanged my 8100 for an 815. I wanted to determine if the reception and clarity were better. I am just learning about the 815 so I will post my reviews on both in a few days. I may go back to the 8100 or keep the 815. The shape and feel of the 8100 is nicer and once I learn the shortcuts of the 815 I imagine they will be pretty much the smae in terms of navigation. The 8100 definately felt sturdier but I do not know if the feel translates directly into sturdiness.

How bizzare to have the time (on the 815) intefere with a picture of my son on the front screen!

With all the testing that these phones go through isn't there someone with some common sense? All they have to do is ask a regular person who co...

I spend just as much time in both forums. I know some of you spend just as much time in the lg forum also. I would not give up my 8100 even if I would get $100 back credit to get the moto. Maybe $300 hundred but then I would just disactivate the e815 and get the i730. I liked the e815 when I first got it but it feels and is built so cheaply that it feels like a dummy phone in my hands. The outer screen it really sad to. What bugged me the most is that it only had one display light that lighted up the main and outer display at the same time. Come on moto they couldn't even afford to put 2 bulbs into this phone. The verizon tech that I talked to also said that about 2500 of the e815 out of 4000 have been returned for hardware issues and only 5...

The way I see is, the E815 is more the MAN's phone whereas the VX8100 is more for women. Allow me to explain:

A man will want to tweak and make his phone the way he wants it to be. The E815 gives you that option. MP3 player with playlists, shuffle, repeat? check. Bluetooth OBEX data transfers? check. awesome reception? check.

The VX8100 can't do whats listed above. The MP3 player needs files to be renamed to .MID and it doesn't even have a playlist. BT is limited and can't be hacked. Yea the flip might be feel tighter, but bottom line is people who want the vx8100 just want pretty lights and colors.

The men who want the E815 want a phone first, and then hardcore features second. we got that.

It's amazing that some people out there will complain that their phone "FEELS CHEAP" and in retaliation do they buy a leather holster to protect against water damage, increase durability, and greatly reduce the amount of scratches the product will suffer over its lifespan? No, they sit there and play with it UNTIL it breaks. If your leg felt weak today, would you sit there and beat it with a brick?

Just because something "FEELS" weak doesn't mean it "IS" weak. Flexibility is not a weakness. It is a strength. Do you know that it is near impossible to break a newborn baby's bones? That is because they are composed mostly of cartilige when they are born and they are extremely flexible. Do you know why old people break bones so easily?...
