Is static problem with phone or headset?

I've pretty much read through every post I could on here that refers to the slight static problem that some people seem to notice about this phone, and had a question for anyone else that has experienced this with their phone.

I just got the phone myself and I absolutely love it. I also have a Motorola HS850 bluetooth headset to go along with it. I did a little testing and it seems that I only get the static while using my headset, but not when I just use the phone itself up to my ear. I also plugged in a wired headset and got the same kind of slight static.

I was just curious if this slight static issue is with the phone itself, or has something to do with how the sound is translated through the headsets? And also, besides using...

Ive also got the HS850. I only experience the static in the "wired" earpiece, because I have yet to find one that works completely static-free for any phone. The HS850 as well as the HS820 share the same "static" characteristic. The problem is is that Bluetooth is not a perfectly constant signal. It will work relatively well most of the time. Usually the problem occurs when the signal has to pass through or go around an object. Especially your body, arm, hip, etc. Try this: put your headset on the other side of your body than your phone and see if the static is a little worse, and whether it is consistant. If so, join the crowd.

If I turn the 815 volume all the way there is BAD caller static in the phone itself. I have to use the volume at no higher than 5, which in many cases is not good because I can't hear.

As far as Bluetooth headsets, I tested them all. The Logitech Mobile Freedom is BY FAR the best, but a tad uncomfortable.

The Jabra BT250V has worked best for me. I have only noticed static when the phone is not either in my pocket or on the desk next to me...if I walk away further than say 5 or 10 feet...then it starts to act funny and segments of conversation get lost. [most likely due to the weak signal] I havent used a wired headset on mine...so i cant comment on that aspect.

I agree. Funny how all BT headset companies say 30 foot range. At 30' everyone I tested was dead, no signal.

The 250 I tested had bad wind issues, otherwise not bad.

Scala the worst by far.
