Automatic over-ride of password to get into Voicemail?

bailagent100

OK, I realize I'm now with a different provider (vzw) and that I've got the E815 rather than my old Nokia. (Impressive unit, btw. Have had it two days now.)

Here's my question: Can I program this phone to automatically over-ride or bypass or enter the requested password when I press '1' to retrieve my messages as I could with the old Nokia?

Had a car kit for the old phone & it was very handy to just press '1' & have the password automatically entered or bypassed so that it started playing back my messages right away.

Will be getting the car kit for the E815 in the next week or two & want the same convenience whether I'm in the truck or not.

Any suggestions are welcome. Many thanks!

here is what i do. i dont tell customers this because it confuses the hell out of them.

youre going to make this a new contact in your phonebook.

type *86
(press menu and "add pause)
then ype your password

so what youre going to see is

*86p1234
on your screen and save that as the contact Voicemail and set it so its speed dial 1. that way when you want to call your voicemail it tpyes it in for you. the "p" is a time pause. its a 2 second pause. if you have questions let me know.

My brother showed me this this past week. I LOVE this capability. It may be spelled out in the manual, nope it's not there. I set this up for my work voicemail and for my VZW voicemail, very handy.

i find that so annoying about the manuals. ive notived that if i dont explain how to set up teh voicemail i ALWAYS get a phone call back before the end of the night. i wish there were little cards or something with directions to set up the voicemail.

I did it that way and it said that it was an incorrect digit.

I then did it as *86p#1234 and it worked perfectly.

If that doesn't work for some, you may have to put the # symbol at the end after the password since that is what Verizon ask you do do when you call Voicemail.

It would then look like *86p1234# Store it under the name Voicemail under #1 and you can use speed dial or voice to activate it. Remember, the "p" is a pause, not the letter P and "1234" is whatever password you use. 😉

I took the # off mine and it still works, it just takes a little more time.

You can also insert a "wait" to make the phone wait for you to press send to send the next sequence. That's handy for when it takes more than 1 ring to pick up or get to the next step of the process. Example, I dial a number to access my work voicemail, the first step is set to wait for me to send the digits which is my mailbox number, then it pauses 2 seconds and enters my password.

That works great if you press speed dial 1 to check messages, but what about when you receive a voicemail message, and your screen has the option to call? For some reason when you choose call option, the saved password does not work. Does anyone know if there is a way around it?

If you go to messages>message settings>Voicemail No. that should do it but it doesnt. i had the same problem on the v710 and on my new e815. for some reason it doesnt send any other digits but the *86. A seem edir may be needed. Sorry

I think he is talking about a different section of the phone. What you describe works with setting a quick dial number, he is talking about setting it up in your Voice Dial number part of the phone, which seems to only send *86 and nothing else.

If you ever leave a verizon tower and go to Extended Network, *86 will NOT work. Thefore - instead of programming in *86ppp#0000# (0000 = your password) you want to put in your 10 digit phone number and then the pauses.
I have also noticed that one pause is sometimes not enough at least 3 pauses are needed, and in some areas four. This all depends on how quick you connect to the tower, which is why 6-8 sec delay is needed, most the time it will work quicker, but those times you are out of the area you will be glad for the delay.

Example:
Menu/Messages/Message Settings/Voicemail No.

1234567890ppp#0000#

ten digit number first, 3 pauses (menu/insert pause three times) # your voicemail password # again, the last pound basicaly mak...

To repeat what someone said earlier, what you're suggesting works in setting a speed dial for voicemail, but it does not appear to work when you attempt to set up the "call" number that is dialed when you receive a voicemail (by going to menu/messages/message settings/voicemail no.). I think in that case the phone continues to dial *86, notwithstanding the changed number. Otherwise, I can't understand why it doesn't work.

Because the voicemail notifications are sent directly from verizon, sort of like a text message, it is IMPOSSIBLE to change the *86 from the notification that pops up on screen, the *86 is programmed into the notification iteself.

However, the voice side of the voicemail no. editing does enter the tones to access voicemail.
Side Key/Go To/Voicemail and enjoy.

The easy fix is to first set up the numbers to call and enter the password, then assign that big number to speed dial location 1. Then hit the End key when a new voice mail comes in, then press and hold 1 until it dials your number with all the added stuff.

It's one extra key press, but it beats doing it manually.

It may not be 100% automated but just use a "wait" instead of 3 pauses. This dials your number to get to your VM, then waits for you to press "Send" before sending the rest of the digits for your password.

Push the menu button and select what you want to do! 😕 It is covered in the manual! 😉
