Why do VZW sales people push the LGvx8100

I am curious about the seemingly blanketed response from vzw sales people in upper NY state (Capital area). I do NOT want to start a "..phone X is far superior.." type of thread, but wonder if anyone has an answer...

I was at 3 different stores, two of which had no 8100's and had e815's in stock. ALL of the sales people tried to sell me 8100's-- even those without the phone in stock! I spent a lot of time reading these boards and think each phone has its strengths and weaknesses. Why the bias? Is it only in my area?? It seems weird the sales people would push a phone they do not have in stock (never happened with a wireless rep before!).

Do the sales people get a bonus for selling the 8100's?

TIA for any insight into the sales rac...

I agree with your statement about the 8100. I was in a Verizon store in Manhattan the other day and there were a couple men who wanted to purchase phones. The salesman took them right over the 8100 and tried to sell them on it. One of the men pointed to the 815 and asked about and the salesman was like no way. It has alot of problems and and he then said the LG was perfect and nothing was wrong with it. The men in the end took three 8100's because of what the salesman said. I couldn't believe it. Every phone will have problems and the salesman wanted to sell the 8100 and not the 815. That salesman was being biased towards the phones. All I know is when I go and get my new phone in November when my NE2 goes into affect, I will ignore the sale...

LG is the Verizon flagship phone and is usually offered first with the newest features. Verizon gets a better deal (profit) by pushing the LG, that's all! 😎

My salesman at Circuit City said that all the people at his kiosk had to use LGs. They were all pretty much in the dark as to the strengths and weaknesses of 815 vs 8100. When I told him that I had read the mp3 player on the 8100 was disabled he acted like it was news to him.... In the end, since I had to pay full retail for the phone, he was actually pushing the 815.

Its actually a sad situation. Verizon has been pushing LG phones for such a long time. This thread/subject has been brought up before but i am glad it has been brought up again. I was reading reviews of the LG VX 8100 on phonescoop.com out of curiosity and that phone isn't all its cracked up to be especially the reception. The reception is a MAJOR problem with the LG phones. So virtually Verizon misleads its customers that don't know much about phones to the LG and kinda leads them down the wrong path. I was at a Verizon booth and i saw the same situation i saw a guy being talked out of his order of 2 E815's for 1 LG VX 8100 i bet that guy isn't the happiest of campers at this point right now. I couldn't even live with myself if i did...

I have set silent enough listening to MOTO employees bash other brands and praise moto here while pretending to be consumers. I work indirectly for motorola in the tech field in Huntsville, AL. Verizon does not make any more money of LG than they do any other maker. They all sign the same contract when they offer a new phone model and have to all pass the same cost analysis. LG is pushed simply because MOTO has the highest return rate of all the makers they carry and LG has the lowest. Plain and simple. End of Story. Less returns means more profit.

hey DC,

What is the deal with the 815 and hearing yoruself as you talk? It's not an echo like a normal echo you think of, but it's like the mic is too loud and you hear yourself as your talking.

is mine a lemon?

My Verizon telesales rep pushed the 8100 on me first, but then steered me toward the 815 saying overall Motorola phones get better coverage on the Verizon network than LGs...
I wasn't going to accept that up front without research, so I read reviews on both phones and it was clear to me that the 815 was the winner over the 8100, based on the reviews. Unless there are a bunch of rabid Motorola fans who kidnapped and tied up all the LG fans to prevent their reviews from ever seeing the light of my monitor screen... 😁

Besides, I have 15 days to test it anyways. TG!

Well I push lg products for one simple reason, When i sell 100 lg products i may have 1 or 2 come back with problems and for every 100 motos is sell i get about 50 back with charging or software issues. We don't get paid by what model we sell, we get paid on what plan we sell. I just push what is going to be a phone that lasts so i don't have to deal with a ticked off customer down the road. The e815 looks like it will be a good phone, but time will tell because every moto since the v60I has had a ton of issues. You may have had one and thought it was the best phone ever, but trust me i am the one who fills out the service orders and the majority of those say moto on them. Sad but true, they have some sweet phones but qaulity has been terrib...

They push LG's because they are better phones.

Actually he belongs wherever he wants. If someone asks why a certain phone is pushed ahead of another - I presume he has a right to state an opinion. Or do all of you Motorola fans just want to keep hearing how great the product is - whether that is truth or fiction!

It's easy to express an opinion - but when it's backed up by fact then there is little to come back with. Check with any Verizon store and simply ask which phone company: LG, Motorola or Samsung has the most service and repair work done. Simple as that.

We have stated the shortcomings of the e815, thank you very much! We have actually gone into detail, unlike some LG fans that post a short sentence without facts, only to degrade this great phone! That's what I'm talking about!

I couldn't have said it better! The only thing LG may have on Motorola is a slightly more solid build, but not really! Other than that, I don't know how they can call it a phone!
