I bought the lg 8100, I am not totally impressed. Should I switch to 815?

In a word... Yes.

I tried the LG8100 first, then the E815. I'm so glad I did. In my opinion, the E815 is the better phone in this match up. I'm very happy with it.

Yes you should!

I have been a customer of verizon for almost six years now and the Motorola E815 is the best phone I have ever used. It has fantastic reception and unbelievable call clarity. It's a very solid phone. It has many great features.
Feel free to ask any specifics. 😁

Hey, since you rave about the call quality, have you tried turning the volume up to the max and calling customer service? When the automated voice reads off the menu options, do you hear a scratchy, kind of blown out speaker sound, especially if you hold the phone just a little away from your face?

Wondering because that's what mine sounds like...I guess the volume would be ok at 4, but I'd like to use it in the car...

If I hold it slightly away from my face, I do hear some "scratchy-ness" that you are talking about. But I do not hear it when I have the speaker up against my ear (where it is supposed to be during a call anyway).

nope! Mine sounds crystal clear. If yours is sounding like a blown speaker I would have it replaced asap! It should not sound that way brah!

Just because I feel compelled to ask - you actually tried it out on your phone?

Whoah, I think that came out sounding bad, I didn't mean it like it sounds when I re-read it...

It's just that verizon is sending me a replacement unit, and I don't want to give them a bunch of crap is everyone else's phone is doing the same thing, so I just want to confirm that you tried it out on your phone, and your phone doesn't make the noise.

Thanks!

See I felt bad about asking if you actually tried it...

But now that I've received a replacement phone that does the same thing, and tried 2 different phones in the store, I don't any more.

They all have that buzzy blown out speaker sound at the highest volume for certain sounds (like the voice when calling customer service).

Thanks for most of the replies, but I've come to the conclusion that the speaker is just like that on this model.

I would stick with the LG. I like the 8000 better than the 8100 though.

::Bash:: 🙄

Just Kidding....I would definately go with the e815. I have it, and I have played with the 8100, and the 815 is a far superior phone.

The e815 is a good phone. I have both and would rate the 8100 an 8 out of 10 and the e815 a 7.5 out of 10. Both are close in quality but have different strengths and weaknesses. It would help to know what you liked or did not like about the 8100.

I am used to LGs menu as I had the vx7000 before. I switched to the razor with cingular and did not care for it. I am back with verizon with the 8100 now and I like the look, design, outer screen showing text and numbers, etc.. I think LGs menus are a little faster and easier to navigate etc.. but the few issues with the 8100. Pictures turning white, volume issue is bugging me too.. and I am hearing of the E815 having sucha clear sound and great signal makes me think of exchanging mine for the E815.. That is my thought process right now.. Let me know if any of you have insight.. I guess it is up to me though..

Is their anything the 8100 does that the E815 does not do... thanks

I guess I do not know any better as I am used to LG,, Is the sound of conversation really that different? I really do not have much complaints on the 8100. I just may not know though.. I hate decisions.....

Why don't you just go to the store and try them both out side by side. 😳

My gosh!!! I hope you never faced with a real difficult decision in life!! 😕

The 8100 is having some issues with sound fading in and out. Most say they are not having this issue and LG says it can be fixed with settings on the phone. I changed my settings and have not had the problem again. I have noticed the e815 always seems to have one more bar of signal then the 8100 but bars mean very little as anyone who had AT&T already knows. Still, I would have to give the e815 the edge in reception and voice clarity. I am staying with the 8100 myself since I am not having the volume issues and I like the better external screen and the side mounted speakers as opposed to the rear mounted one on the e815. I am also big on looks and feel and the 8100 is a little more solid feeling than my e815 and seems to be a little more sty...

Yes...to answer your question it really is that much better. Before the E815 I owned the V710, but prior to that had the LG 4400 and 6000 and thought they where very good phones. (and they where) but they lacked clear call clarity that you won't notice until you use a phone like the Motorola E815. I think you should buy it, because the most important feature of any phone is call clarity and reception and the E815 comes out on top.
😉 😉
