this may have already been hashed out, but...

i just bought the 8100 and now i'm thinking of trading it in for the e815. the 8100 does not currently have an MP3 player built in. can anyone verify that you can transfer MP3 files onto the Transflash card and play music on the e815? is transferring files to the phone user-friendly? i don't wanna to be duped again, like the 8100.

thanks in advance.

Yes, you can very easily transfer MP3 files onto transflash card and play the songs on the phone! 😁

Yeah, transfering files to the transflash card is a breeze, either stick it into the SD card adapter and use a flash reader on your computer or just use bluetooth which goes at like 64K/sec for me and is as easy as drag and drop.

Playing mp3's is really easy, you can make up playlists or whatever and even hide the player and do other things with your phone while the mp3's keep playing...though really to take advantage of this I should get a stereo headset for this or an adapter.

thanks guys. i'll take your word for it. i just went to check out the phone, but there really isn't a music player that i can see. Do i use the "Media Gallery" under the "sounds" function? or does the music player pop up when i have music files on the transflash card. i think i will trade in my 8100 to the e815. i thought i would never say that. 😲

Main menu>media gallery>sounds. You can use media gallery or possibly sounds as a shortcut. Title, artist, Length of song, kb, kbps,ff,rewind, play and stop show once song starts playing. You can close flip once the music starts playing. When you open flip again name of song, ff, and rewind display on main screen. No display on front lcd for music. No controls from outside though, but not a big deal!!! No buttons to accidentally press anyways!

wow thanks. that's the most concrete info i got on the MP3 player on 815. i'am assuming that you can create playlists and have songs playing on auto without having to hit play on every next song.

ok now i'm gonna convert to the 815, even if there are some rumored inferiority to the 8100. i don't care how good the surround sound is on the 8100 if you can't really transfer and play music files. i don't wanna have to reconfigure codes and major setting at my own risk just to play something that should be part of the phone.

You can create playlists, and I believe auto is an option also. I did see playlists! 😁

you can create a playlist easily enough, there doesn't seem to just be a shuffle option though, only repeat which I think would just loop a single track...though I bet if enough ppl bugged motorola/verizon for a shuffle option they could add it into the next software version...

anyone hear anything about the the sandisk transflash 512 card, every website seems to be saying that they're expecting it but none of them have it?....Also amazon has the motorola stereo headsets for $15-but it's also on backorder....

There actually is a Shuffle option as well as Repeat, but shuffle only appears as a menu option when using a subfolder (playlist) you've created within the sounds folder, which makes sense because that seems to be the only way to play multiple songs at once.

If your main interest is playing MP3 music files, you would be MUCH better off getting a true MP3 player such as the i-pod.

A real MP3 player will hold a whole lot MORE songs, have better controls and capabilities and impress your friends a lot more than a phone substituting as a limited MP3 player!

Playing MP3s on the phone really uses up the battery fast. The phone is really meant to be a phone, not an MP3 player so if you want to use it to actually talk on, your battery may be dead when you need it.

Choosing a good cell phone should be based on factors other than MP3 use, like reception, call quality, menu system, hands free use, ease of use, phone book, scheduler, alarm and other features that should be simple and easy to use ...

True, very true. However, it is convenient to have two or three items in one, rather than carrying around an MP3 player, camera, and phone. There should be a higher MB Transflash card available soon. Actually battery life is pretty decent on this phone.

i agree. the reason why i went with the LG 8100 first, then switched to 815 is the convergence capabilities. i'm not expecting 10gigs of music on internal memory.

So can I only load MP3s (songs not ringtones) onto a transflash card and not the internal memory? I know there isn't much there but I am just wanting to tryout the functionality before I commit to this phone and not a vx8100 that my wife has.

If internal memory can hold the songs how do I load an MP3 onto my phone? When I try to use mobile phone tools for this the phone disconnects from my PC.

Thanks!
