Ok first of all, why does ANYONE sign a one year contract??? WHO is happy with a phone for two whole freakin years? Just sign a one year contract, pay only 30 dollars at a radioshack or 50 more at verizon, and in ONE year you can upgrade early.

Second of all, what is this crap with going into a coporate Verizon store and STILL not being able to get a new phone. My account is in Florida, but for the summer I live in Chicago. Apparently, Verizon expects me to wait until I go back to Florida to buy a freakin phone. If your a national company, then you should be able to access my account NATIONALLY. They tell me to order it online or buy it over the phone, but have any of you tried to return a phone you purchased over the phone or online? Ha ...

I only signed a one-year contract cuz I'm still holding out a little for the CDMA RAZR, but I do love my E815...and yeah, the $50 isn't a big deal for a brand new phone when there's a $50 rebate and it's already cheaper than I was expecting.

My account is out of Rochester, NY, but I was able to renew and get my phone in NJ last week at Circuit City...I'm not sure why they were being dumb about your account...I blame the ppl working there more than Verizon, though some of their regional **** is annoying like how my phone number is out of NY so I pay NY taxes on it dispite my billing address and now permanent address being in NJ.

I refuse to sign anymore contracts with Verizon. Someone put it best when the said i will need some KY if Verizon keeps screwing me over. You send any thing back to Verizon it goes to Texas and it takes 4-8 weeks to credit your account which is outrageous if they could get things right in the first place people wouldn't have to wait that long. I rather pay full retail for the phone than be locked in a contract with Verizon i want to be the one in control here. Oh about the CDMA Razr I'm also looking forward to that phone as well but it looks like Verizon might have us again. The antenna in that phone is built into the phone the receiver where you talk into at the bottom of the phone. Verizon requires a stub or expandable (whip) antenna...

What I find amazing is that Verizon has 4 different regions, each with a different computer system. I tried to port a landline # in Chicago to my family share plan in the SF Bay area, and they told me they could not do it. I would have to get an individual account with Verizon Wireless in Chicago. Apparently west coast accounts can't have area codes from the midwest. Different billing systems. What crap!

Yea you have to be in the same local area for them to open a account for you but than you should be able to use it anywhere and transfer it anywhere. I was always told that you could use your phone as long as you were in the Verizon service area. But isn't that what Americas choice for to give you the "FREEDOM" to call from wherever you want whenever you want in the US where they have service not having to deal with their extra crap? At least thats what they advertise. VERIZON CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?

I hear your argument and raise you. My contract ended recently and I wanted to renew the contract as well as get the E815 NE2. Well, my local area is NYC but for the summer I'm in California. Not only was I unable to renew my contract at any local store, but I had to wait for verizon to mail me my phone from the east coast. I even, at one point, had a service rep from a store on the phone with a service rep from NYC arguing for 20 minutes about whether I can pick up the phone at the store instead of having to wait to get it shipped.
It's ridiculous indeed that a national company has so many different software systems that cannot integrate for ****. With the hassle I had to go through to RENEW an account and provide THEM profit, I've lost a ...
