For those of you waiting for the Motorola E815 (and I am one of you) I would like to know why you think it is a better choice than the LG VX 8100. Any input that you have on this comparison would be greatly appreciated. I want to purchase either the E815 or the LG VX8100, and would like to know why people think the Motorola or the LG is the better choice.

Thanks

It does look the like the VX-8100 is capable of having much more memory. 512MB built in versus 40MB built in for the 815. Then the Mini SD cards can only go up to 256MB. Is this info correct?

I believe that the Mini SD can go up to 512MB and the TransFlash only goes up to 256MB. It's really a toss-up right now for which phone is best...basically depends on what features are most inportant to you.

I believe SanDisk will be releasing a 512MB TF card (re-named microSD) in the near future so it's sort of a wash there.

But 512MB of internal memory plus another 512MB on a card is a TON of memory! Probably overkill for my purposes. Similarly, I really don't need 500 phonebook entries, much less the 1000 available on the 815. However, I have to say that a 500 entry limit on a phone with a whopping 512MB of internal memory seems sort of illogical.

Anyway, if I decide to replace my V710, I'll probably go with the 815.....ASSUMING, that is, I'll be able to use my V710 accessories. This crap with these phones today! I mean, the cost of stuff such as car chargers, desktop chargers, storage cards, data cables and software, et al, collectiv...

I agree with homer2004 with the memory and the accessory part. You dont want to over kill your phone with memory for one i know that the highest transhflash card that i have been able to find is 256mb which is plenty for me plus the built in memory that comes in the phone. I think Motorolas for the most part are better made phones more durable and the best part is the universal accessories. LG keeps changing their accessories on every phone i cant even believe it. The A840, V710, and E815 will all use the same car and home/travel charger and leather case and extended battery but i dont really think there is a need for a extended battery on the E815. They will also use the same transflash card and the same Motorola USB Mobile Phonetools 3...

Does anyone have a desktop charger for the A840/V710/E815? I am under the impression that there is no Motorola version.

hey, i work for circuit city and i can confirm that the largest TF card on the market currently is the 256 MB card. There is no card that is higher. But guys, come on with a 256 MB card and a 1.3 megapixel camera, thats over 200 picturs i think. Thats insane for a phone!

I have an Moto desktop charger for my V710. Curiously, I bought it directly from Motorola but now can't seem to locate it on the Moto web site.

Regardless, there are a bunch of auctions on ebay for the V710 desktop charger and at considerably cheaper prices than what I paid!

Better reception...from everything I have read the V715 has about the best reception on the market; and the E815 should follow suite. I know from my own personal experiences and from friends of mine that LG phones are not strong in the reception department...darn good looking and with lots of features, but for me I am more concerned about pulling in a weak signal and dropped calls.

I agree reception isnt big with LG no matter how much a sales person can say i tried the LG VX6100 and they said it was suppose to have the best reception my signal bars bounced up and down like a rubber ball and my calls were dropping like flies couldnt even believe it and the pitch Verizon gave me was this was rated #2 in reception 🙄 proved them wrong because they didnt even know what number one in reception was they tried to tell me the same phone the LG VX6100 was the #1 in reception as well 😳 talk about confusing! But i never had a signal problem with Motorolas they even pull through strong in analog areas.
