Hopefully Motorola will not use the same charging system like they use on the 710/v60/120/720/etc. I refuse to buy a Mot until they come up with a better charging system. If anyone knows for sure what will be used - please let us know.

i have the 815 and love it. it has a few quirks. sorry to dissappoint, but it is the identical charging system as the 710.
...
I am glad you like the phone, but I need to ask - How do you have one of these already?
...
I've seen about 5 E815's sold on ebay over the past few months. Plus people have been selling them on a few forums.

I thnink the people who decided to get their phones early befor motoroloa took them back in and fixed the bugs and stuff got phones that do have quirks in them thats just the chane you take when you get a phone early like that thats why Motorola and other companies spends months testing phones and fixing them before releasing them. Than if there is still problems after the release they do firmware upgrades. Thats why i prefer to wait till the phone is actually released into a store. But yea the charging system needs to be modified i like how its universial though.

i got it off ebay about a month ago. it is a pretty snazzy phone. it is slightly larger and heavier than the 710.
...
The only one on Ebay was a V710 inside an E815 shell...is that the one you bought?
...
no i bought one about 2-3 weeks before that one showed up. when i activated the phone, verizon identified the esn as an 815.
...
That's great...does it feel "built better" than the 715? I thought the 715 felt very light, plasticy (if that's a word) and cheap for what it costs? Also the shiny plastic looked like it would scratch so easy. Is the 815's body coated or covered with something? And could you please tell us what they are going to cost us? Thanks gadgetjunkie.
...
maybe a little better build in my opinion. i actually like the 710 feel because it is slightly thinner and lighter. it doesn't show scratches like the 710. it has some metal around the camera which still scratches a bit due to friction in opening the clamshell. i think the body doesn't show the scratches mainly because it's color better hides them. the keys light up blue and have a different feel than the 710. the voice recognition is allegedly updated from the 710, but i prefer the 710 voice recognition to the 815. all in all it is the best phone i've owned. it cost me $500, but i have no idea what the price will be once released. i happened upon the phone on ebay and snagged it.

I too have an e815. Its a great damn phone. the EVDO is awesome! The bluetooth, although crippled is fantastic. The battery life is stellar, and the new skin graphics are fantastic.
I really dont have any complaints.
...
How do you guys get these phones so early? How long do we have to wait to get one???
...
Yea i read that batery life is something like 4.67 hours of talk time (280 minutes and stand by is 300 hours ( 12.2 days) who needs an extended battery! maybe thats why the phone is a lil heavier. I cant wait till the V-Cast gets a lil further into Verizons coverage areas though. I was able to see the new skin graphics from some nice pictures and they wre awesome i can only imagine what they would look like when the phone is right in your hand! Im glad this phone is a pleaser i hope it keeps up and dont fail like the V-710. I imagine retail on this phone will be around $400-$450 possibly more because of the EVDO. But if you sign a contract of course it will be less but im waiting for the Motorola MS500 to do that.

It's not the best charging system but it being universal is great. I keep buying the moto phones (on my 3rd with the univeral port) so now I have like a charger for every room. And even the bluetooth headset HS850 has the same charger, so I can recharge almsot anywhere. My wife has a different moto phone but the charge port is the same, works out great when she needs to charge her phone and we're in my car can just use my charger.
