If a phone doesn't have an e-mail client, does that mean that I can't check my e-mail through my phone or what? If not, than could someone please tell me what it does mean...

nope, email clients are usually only mentioned for smartphones , but you can still check email like hotmail, yahoo, gmail unless its a vpn or something really secure. verizon upcoming cell phones are being equipped with wap 2.0 and openwave browser +6.2. you can check it through mobile web.
