Ringtones Please Explain

Can someone explain to me in a nut shell why you can't download mp3 ringtones on a mp3 player phone. I aready know about the conversion process and aac/pure voice ring tones are just as good. Just wondering?

It is somewhat disappointing that MP3's can't be used as ringers. The explanation that I think is most likely is due to the phone's limited internal memory. The 5600 has only 3MB internal memory to handle everything (ringers, screensavers, games, ect). The ringers that you use have to be on the phone's internal memory, not the memory card. I would assume this is done, partly because of the slightly longer access time to read the card and partly because if your ringers were stored on the memory card and you pulled it out of the phone, then your phone would not be able to ring (correctly).
The AAC (MP4) format is a more advanced file format that offers higher quality then MP3 in a smaller file size. I took the same approximatly 30 seco...
