Can't get the date to stay up

Has anyone else had a problem with getting the date to display on their phone even after setting it to do so? The first day I got my phone I found the option to display the date, and even select the format. It worked too. But then the next day I noticed it had vanished, and gone back to just saying "Verizon Wireless" even though the setting never changed! My friend just got the same phone and ntheh same exact thing happened to him. Help!!! 😳

Are you sure you are looking at an option to display the date? If you go to menu-settings-initial setup there is an option to change the date or time but no mention of displaying it.

Yes- I think that's the methodology I used, and after doing so the first time it displayed the date. But ever since then the date has vanished. How can I get it back?? Is it a bug with the software?

No its not a bug. It was intentionally left off. Supposedly a future software update will show the date. If you are on an America's Choice plan, "Verizon Wireless" will show in place of a custom banner (i.e., "Joe's Phone"). Your banner will go back and forth between the two depending on several factors. This is called the ERI, or electronic roaming indicator. When your custom banner is displayed, it does not mean you're roaming or that you're not in an AC calling area...it's just part of how the ERI works. If you are in a roaming area, your phone should indicate you are roaming. If you are not in the extended area or 1x service area, you will get a triangle on the top of your scree...it goes something like this.

ERI actually stands for Enhanced Roaming Indicator because it adds some customization, such as banners, where the older phones did not.

Correct. This level of customization is done not for the purpose of telling the user your service is with Verizon Wireless, but to let you know you are using the Verizon network or another network in some cases, such as "Extended Network."
