come on pasha, the 7000 is missing many of the key features that lg has on their new releases. The tri-mode factor by itself sells the phone, not to mention the phonetic recognition and digit dial. The speakerphone is also a key feature. The 7000 has not sold very well for verizon, and it is HUGE size wise. The 8000 is not scedualed for release untill late December.

Tri-mode is a joke. Why would you want to pick up analog signal which is weaker and less reliable. If you have Verizon and the America's Choice plan you are covered in 95% of the U.S.. Do you know how many places there are that just have analog signal and not digital? Not very many. And if you have a tri-mode phone and are in an area with both analog and digital signal the phone is going to try and pick up the analog signal first. This is just my $.02 on tri-mode. Think what you will.

All I can tell you is I was in NYC on 9/11 and the power failure. Analog worked. Digital was non-existant. Case closed!

I will never be without analog again as long as there is analog out there.

Drive through Kentucky or North Carolina with your digital phone...it won't work. I'm paying for the entire network. Tri-modes normally go digital first and have never had an issue with it.

Wow, that's flame bait.

Just so anyone else reading this thread in the future knows, nothing this guy said is true about trimode. I would go on, but I'm not going to waste my time on this kind of trolling.

I must correct you on some things. AMC covers 95% of the US? I would like to see proof of this. You said that if a customer is in an analog and digital area their phone would pick up the analog signal 1st; that's completely wrong, analog is a backup network- it will switch to analog only on a very last resort basis.

I drive thru KS on I-70 at least twice a yr (poor digital coverage). My phone, LG 510, indicates digital with one bar long before it switches to Analog (stronger signal).

I also live in the CO mountains and it stays digital whenever possible. Sometimes to the point of being annoying (weaker signal than analog).

Everyone should ignore the post about analog first picking up before digital.

Get a tri-mode phone if you want coverage where there is any signal available. It will get the digital signal first, if it's available.

i love how all you guys think the phone company makes money on the phones. they don't, they lose money for every phone they sell, so why would that even be a factor. how much do you think these phones cost? especially when a lot of these phones are buy one get one free. there has got to be somebody out there who works for the phone company that can confirm this. to me it's just common sense. they make money from the service and the add ons like text messaging, picture messaging, video messaging, internet. how do you not know this?

somehow i doubt they lose money on the phones they sell, perhaps they dont make much - but lose, thats doubtful. I Bought 3 of these phones, and im happy with everything but the speakerphone, but even with bad quality im glad i have one.

LOL... I'm not sure if you all said what I'm about to, to this guy 🙂

6100 = tri mode
6100 = small
6100 = national access

7000 = dual mode
7000 = larr-ger
7000 = national access

8000 = dual mode
8000 = larger
8000 = fast as hell
8000 = BAD ASS camera

so those who don't want to walk around with a HUGE phone on their waist would like someting compact like the 6100.. thats why..

barryefau, well done!

Apparently, people don't always look at ALL the pluses for each phone.

I like a small phone because my hands are the size of a kid's and they aren't growing any bigger.

Pasha,
Do yourself a favor and don't come to Wyoming, if you have a car problem and don't have a tri-mode you'll freeze to death before someone finds you.
