receiving text and voicemail notification???
i seem to have trouble receiving text and voicemails, they eventually come, but sometimes it takes a few hours, i used to have issues with my old phone and its reception in my room, but this phone will go from full reception to none, if i move like one foot in my room, has anyone else experienced a situation like this, if so, what was the solution (bad phone, need for constant strong signal....etc) if possible any help is appreciated

This sounds like a reception issue to me. You'd probably be having this problem with any phone in your house... ☹️

If you go to a Cingular store, or call customer svc, they can look up your address on a coverage map & tell you if you live in an area with poor signal quality. If the ignorant dolt @ the store looks at you like they don't know what you're talking about, tell them it's called the MTI Map Tool, & its found on the CSP (Cingular Sales Portal) website.
Even if you live in an area with great reception, it could just have to do with your house. I can't get any reception in my kitchen with any phone. Also, usually, my signal goes kaput whenever I go about 20 feet into any Wal-Mart with any phone. Must be something about how they build the dang store.
