Considering Verizon and the KOI

I currently have Nextel, and of course a Motorola phone. My contract is up and I am seriously thinking about switching to Verizon. I get really spotty reception, and I really don't use the direct connect feature. Also, although the phone is OKAY, it is pretty thick, not really user friendly, and might as well have no features. My last service provider was with Sprint PCS and I had the Kyocera QCP-3035. I got good reception with it, was a good slim size, was pretty sturdy, and of course it had a lot of useful features. But after doing some online research about Kyocera in general, the most major complaint was about the battery. Many complained that it drained quickly, caused a lot of problems, and over-heated the phone. I actually rem...

I don't know who you've been talking to but Samsung and LG make some of the best phones out there in the market.

Anyways, my friend is beta testing the koi right now and he said it's not worth it. The battery dies down within a day of using it, horrible. The 1.3 MP camera is cool but there's a slight hue to it. If you want I can show you pictures taken using the koi.

Thanks for the input. I probably should have said that there have been more complaints with the LGs.....user friendliness, battery power, programming, etc. Though, I will admit that I like their designs and features. That would be cool if you can send me some sample pictures. Thanks!

Currently I have an LG VX4400 and have had no problems with it at all. My mom has the Slider, and has had no problems with it either, gets great reception and hasn't had any problem with the battery. As far as the Koi it has been said that it doesn't have a long battery life, but that is when you take some pictures. What I would recommend for you is using Verizon's 15 day Worry Free Guarantee, and test out the phone, see if you like it or not, and if you don't return it to Verizon and get a different phone. If the Koi doesn't suit your style I would go with the LG VX7000 or wait for the 8000 or go with the Samsung A670. Those are all great phones, but remember, a cell phone is meant for calling, not taking pictures.

Thanks for the info. You are right about two things: First, I should take advantage of the 15 day worry free guarantee (totally forgot about that!), and second "a cell phone is meant for calling, not taking pictures." I was just thinking the other night about the new Audiovox, or even the Samsung. I might go down as far as the regular Nokia phone. I also thought about the fact that camera phones are not quite perfected yet, so I should just wait a year or two. I might play around with the Koi when it comes around, and if I don't like it, I will consider the above three. Thanks! 🙂

No problem. Don't forget that if you want a camera phone, and make sure your battery lasts long enough, just get a second battery, or just get an extended battery and use the regular as a back up. You could always do that too.
