"No Service" Message

So this weekend my phone started displaying a "No service" message where it usually says Cinglar. Even when it had 4 bars, it still displayed that message, and I couldn't make any calls, use the internet, etc.
I called Cingular and they told me it's not the service and told me to get a new SIM card. So i went to Best Buy and got a new Sim card. Still no luck. I did a master reset, no luck. I put my sim card in a friends phone and it worked fine.
So Cingular is sending me my 3rd replacement phone, which is ok since i have a big scratch on the front of this one. But they're backordered so no telling how long it will be before i get it 🙄

I'm in the same boat. My wife has the V551 and I'll be standing right next to her and her phone will be working fine but mine doesn't. So I'm going to try one more phone and if this doesn't working.. I'm may switch to Verizon... I just get too many drop calls in areas where I shouldn't... 😢

If there is signal, and your phone states that there is "no service".. it is most likely a software issue or a faulty handset. When they send you a phone, they are refurbished on previously sent back phones that they dressed up and flashed in mass production. So there is always room for screw ups. In other words... keep your chin up.. and you will eventually get one that works. After the 3rd or 4th one... demand a NEW one... and accept nothing less.

wish it were that easy. this is my 5th phone.. still having same problem. i was sitting next to my wife and she had full strength and i had no service. so what's up with that..

if your still having the problem after 3 exchanges xbm will replace with a comparable model, or beable to exchange for new handset

Cingular XBM sent me a replacement headset, and it works fine now. Now if I can only find a good case for it so I don't get it scratched up like my last one.

There's a case on sale on eBay. I personally prefer Krusell cases, but haven't been able to find one for the MPX 220. The case I got on eBay is a cheap imitation leather case, but it keeps my phone from getting scratched up. I hope this helps.
