Tonight, I performed a small surgical procedure on my MPx220. You know the little 'Cingular' nameplate at the bottom of the phone? I pried it off and guess what? The microphone's quality improved immediately. Of course, doing this left an open wound on the phone, but it did expose a real microphone underneath. My friends tell me that I no longer sound like I'm speaking through layers of Kevlar.

Again, we have to ask: why did Motorola intentionally cripple this phone? It's potential is definitely there.

Folks, I say stay with the Microsoft Smartphone (any model) There is no substitute.

I am not going to pay $250-$350 for a phone which requires open heart surgery in order to function properly! I will wait a few months until they get these issues resolved...

I agree that the Smartphone OS is a beautiful thing, but Motorola needs to remember that at it's core this is still a PHONE and should behave like one. They obviously neglected the phone functionality to focus on Bluetooth, Voice commands, etc..
