I confirmed today that 24Kbs seems to be the lowest bit-rate that the phone will go. a 20Kbs and 8Kbs file did not play. I have not found an upper limit yet, but have not tried that much. So far it plays 192Kbs files fine and VBR(variable bit rate) files with no problem. Sounds very clear and will need to find a stereo adapter that will go into the headset jack. I have confirmed that it exists and motorola in a e-mail confirmed that it works. right now it is marketed as working with motorola's PDA. On ebay they are like $15 which seem pretty expensive to me.

elec_engineer, which stereo adapter are you talking about? Someone on here got the HS525/SYN9870 stereo headset which was made for the MPx200 and said it works with the V710. Is this what you're talking about or are you talking about an adapter that converts a 2.5mm headset jack into a 3.5mm headphone jack? Here's a link to that SYN9870 stereo headset.
