Verizon Phone Isurance?
Is anyone familiar with the insurance/service plan that VZW offers for $4.99/month? Do they really stand by replacing the phone? Is ist worth it? Any advice/experiences are appreciated? Thank You.

It is only worth it if you don't have $400 laying around to buy a new phone after dropping it in the lake! For the most part I do not buy any extended plans but I made an exception for this item because I did drop my old StarTac in the drink once!!

The carrier for the insurance is Assurion. They replace your phone if it is lost, if it is defective after the first year. They usaully replace it with a refurbished phone. It takes a police report and some other crap till they send you one, hopefully one that works. They replaced my T720 with someone else's broken phone, and would not replace that till they got the broken one back. A real pain however it is still cheaper than buying a new one.

bad news - my friend works for the insurance company and he said most claims are denied so its a mess. he said a huge headache and his company is thinking of dropping the policy and letting a different company handle the issues. probably shouldn't be saying this but ...
just ask to see the policy and read the fine print for yourself. its not worth it at all.
geez by january there will be a new moto out that will surpass the 710. everyone wants the new and latest and are willing to spend top dollar for it. its crazy...
but as for the insurance i would pass. Best Buy extended service plan is the worst. Read the policy on that one and you'll laugh. Its a joke.

verizon will replace the phone for a $50 deductible.they send you the same phone but a refurbished model.the cool thing is that they cover anything that happens to the phone.plus all your accessories are covered too.
