Hope they can do something to Fix the camera ! It is horrible. My $49 camera on my computer takes better pictures. Not clear in the least. Don't know how they said it has the quality of a stand alone digital camera.

well remember the main function of the v710 is its a cell.

but i feel the 1.2 works pretty damn good. But i would never use it for real pics. This thing is just for fun. For real pics I use my Nikon 5200.

I'm sure within time they will figure out how to put a 8mp cam into a cell...

I have the same problem with the camera, the pictures are totally unusable for anything except wallpaper for the phone. I know that is a phone first but I would expect a 1.2 Megapixel camera to the better than this!
Like to know if anyone else is experience the same type of quality from the camera?
If people are finding the pictures of the adequate maybe some of the phones are bad and needs to be exchanged.

Actually I have also noticed the poor quality of the camera. My last phone was the LG VX6000 which only had I believe 680,000 pixels but it took much better pictures under all conditions . My sister has the Samsung VGA1000 with Sprint and her phone also takes better pictures. So either there is some defect with the phone, it is not actually 1.2 MP or Motorola just bombed out. On the other hand, the video camera is pretty darn good for a phone and quite useful, though still not as good as the SE P900.

I assume that everyone has changed the resolution to 1.2 MP. The default is 300K (640x480). You must manually change it to get the full quality!!!

If you send a pic to am email address or VZW pix place at full resolution, they look pretty friggin' good considering ot came from a phone! A full res pic sent to pix place will take up the entire computer screen, looks pretty good to me!

At the retail price of this phone and the fact that they hyped the camera on the video i would expect far more. the picture quality stinks even at high res.

Picture quality is great outdoors (in sunlight) but bad indoors. Try it out.

There is so much noise in darker pictures. Color is very bad. Tried every setting. I think it has something to do with the CMOS censor they use in this phone. The other cameras use CCD censors. I hope they can fix this with an upgrade.

The camera on the phone is pretty bad compared to other phones. Its just not up to speed for such an expensive phone.

Although I hear people say that 'hey this is a phone not a camera'... as these phones/companies continue to market taking pictures and videos as major features/functions of phones (ie commericial with the woman documenting her vacation in video...) my expectations are raised. Taking and sending picts with a phone has been made important by these companies and then/Motorola needs to stand behind their product and deliver on their promises and meet the expectations that THEY set or do a better job of managing our expections.

i agree that its a cell phone first, but this camera is supposed to be on the cutting edge of the cell phone market. quite frankly, it's not! my girlfriends samsung takes better pictures and its not close to 1.2 mp. i love the phone, but i'm disappointed with the camera. another example, i was at work hyping up the new phone that i was getting. i took it in to work for the boys to see. the first thing they played with was the camera. the first thing they saw was a ****ty picture. i made up some dumb excuse as to why it was taking crappy pictures inside. my girlfriend also thought that the pictures were in black and white(even though it was in color mode). i hope it can be fixed somehow. 😢

The camera must be improved, (Again, I know this is a cell phone) I was expecting much more for a 1.2 MP camera and I have been truly dissapointed by the camera definition. Does anyone know if the camera issues will be fixed by the firm ware upgrade we are all expecting??

I wouldn't expect the camera to be fixed by a software upgrade. They may be able to tweek it a bit, but that's about it. I would think it's more of a hardware issue.
