CONFIRMED - BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER IN 2-4 weeks

I spoke with a very knowledgeable rep from Motorola Software Dept. who said they expect to have full BT capability (file transfer) within 2-4 weeks (they may take the full 4 weeks in order to test more carefully.

He said to expect a call from Verizon telling all current v710 owners to return to the store for a full software flash in about a month.

will it improve the camera quality?

Doubtful on the camera quality. Quality is a function of many factors, including the lens, aperture, etc. - software can't fix some of those things.

If it's true that BT file transfer will arrive, that would be awesome. The Tflash is only "semi-removable", meaning "don't do it much" or "do it really carefully". Using BT only would be so sweet!

Probably will have no impact on camera... although i AM hoping that Moto reads this forum, and will make other changes to the firmware with that BT release (ie: handset volume, ABILITY TO DELETE THE PRE-LOADED PICS!, etc.)

They might be able to lighten up the night shots but the real problem with the v710 camera is the CMOS sensor. Digicams use CCD's.
CMOS is used for inexpensive toy type digicams.
The quality is made more apparent by the large pixel count.

I happen to know there are some VERY GOOD CMOS sensors out there, but they are very expensive, and big. Better camera's tend to have larger sensors, just as better film camera's use various large format films.

Sorry I can't say any more, but I don't want to loose my job.

Actually, a good many professional digital SLRs use CMOS chips rather than CCDs (like Canon's $8,000 EOS-1D Mk II, for example).

The problem with the v710's camera appears more likely to be related to exposure metering and the severe compression artifacts experienced when creating an underexposed image when internal storage space is at a premium.

A firmware update could conceivably address this, by allowing a greater range of compression options (this is not the same as image resolution/size options and by improving the camera's metering.

Ability to delete pre-loaded pics isn't that hard. As soon as P2KMan which uses the Motorola PST Software drivers can read the file directory on the V710 like it can for all other Motorola phones.

That makes no sense. Can you explain?

Nothing to explain.... p2kman is a file manager for Motorola p2k phones. The v710 is a p2k phone as it works with Motorola's PST. Look on HowardForums for more info on p2kman.
