New Every 2 question

I don't qualify for the NE2 until Oct 19. I thought I recalled some talk on the forum about getting a phone for the less than the retail Verizon price of $419--if you had a plan for $59/mo or more. I think you can get it for the 2 year contract price in this case. I think I heard you have to forfeit the $100 discount if you do this but the phone comes cheaper. Is this true? And does anyone know if I qualify for it now? The phone arrives tomorrow here locally and I'd like to buy one for less than retail. Thanks.

From my understanding with Verizon, if you sign up for a NEW 2yr. contract you get the mail-in-rebate. So the phone would cost you $319.00 with the new 2yr. contract, and with the $70 mail-in rebate, you get the phone for $249. I may be wrong about this, but I hope this helps.

That's what I've heard and the way I understand it also. Do you know if I do this slightly more than 4 months out from my NE2 date of Oct 19? Thanks.

If i were you, I would wait until oct. 19 and use ur NE2 $100 credit. I'll be elligible for my NE2 in the middle of September. That way you only spend a total of $149 for the phone. I'm still confused by your question; if you're 4 months out of ur contract, you're elligible to use ur NE2 anytime oct. 19 and beyond.
If you're confused by me, don't worry about bugging me :-)

Sorry about the confusion. I think you answered my question, but what I meant was--I am still over two months away from being able to use the NE2 $100 discount. I am wondering how soon someone could get a phone upgrade without paying the retail price of $419. If you're on the $59/mo. or more plan, do you qualify for a reduced price upgrade anytime after a contract begins? Or is it a year into your contract? 18 months? 20 months? Does that make sense? Just so you know, you ain't bugging me. 🙂 Taking advantage of the NE2 discount makes lots of sense, but I am 'new gadget hungry' and just can't wait! 🙂

If you have a two year contract, I believe that you are eligible for an early upgrade at 12 months. With that being said, after the 12th month, you can buy the phone at the 2 year contract price, thus extending your previous contract. Also, you will not be elibile for the NE2 until the end of the "new/extended contract."

Thanks a lot. That's exactly the way I now recall it being discussed in earlier posts. I appreciate it.

i am not if you wrote this earlier. but try calling customer service. let them know of your interest...tell them your current phone has been acting up and you would ike to trade it up. i think if you call and beg enough they might let you do it early, especially if you have a higher plan. they will require you to renew your contract again from the day you get your phone. but if you do this tonight...and they note whatever agreement you come to on your account, then when you go in tomorrow, they just have to look up your account and see the notation and you don't have to haggle again for the deal. it is worth the try.

LOL I totally now how "gadget hungry you are." I am too. I was absolutely krazy about the V600 and was going to end my contract with verizon and switch to at&t (which i think has the WORST coverage and HORRIBLE reception). but i didn't cuz the v710 seems to be a heck of a lot better phone. i might also get my phone at the end of the week b/c i don't think i can wait any longer.
Ok I know someone else answered ur question and i don't want to confuse you, but what I think is that since u r on a higher plan, u should call verizon and just ask them when the earliest time u can get an upgrade and get the phone at the discount price. it doesn't hurt to call them and talk to them. who knows, maybe if u're credit is good, they'll consider upg...
