VZW just credited my acct

I purchased my V710 at Radio Shack on the 30th. I was eligible for NE2, but they aren't a part of that. Even though we called Verizon, they said unless I purchased the phone at a VZW store, they couldn't give me the $100 off. After reading on phonescoop how some people were able to get the $100 and all from VZW, I just called VZW and got $50 credited back to my acct after mentioning phonescoop and my annoyance. It's not the full $100, but it's better than nothing, so I'll take it!! Maybe some others can do the same....

I'm vzw cust. serv. rep. and you are a lucky cust. You knowing that RS told you that they will not honor the ne2, went ahead and bought it anyways. Now you call us c...

I did what I did because of reading how other people on phonescoop were able to take advantage of the NE2 even though they bought their phones at Radio Shack as well. As far as I'm concerned, I'm looking out for myself and trying to get the best deal I could, instead of getting shafted. Yes, I made the choice not to wait for VZW to have the phone in stores and get it at RS instead, but if others can get the NE2 promotion at RS, then why can't I? I was just trying to get mine...I don't think thats a bad thing. You gotta look out for yourself, or no one else will, thats all.

I also got a $50 credit...but honestly, my account has four phones and we've been onboard since Verizon had been known as Cellular One, and the only reason why they supposedly allowed the credit is because my V60 was in such bad shape I couldn't afford to wait to upgrade.

Overall, I figure the $50 was a fair price to pay (ie a credit of $50 rather than the full $100 NE2 credit) and it's not a bad thing, but this whole launch has been seriously bumbled. If Verizon weren't so far above the other cell companies, I would have considered switching long ago.

......uh... Verizon was formed from Bell Atlantic, GTE, Southwestern bell, and a few other companies. Where do you get CellularOne from? There not even a CDMA provider! I use to have Bell Atlantic Mobile (or was it Bell Mobile? I can't remember).

Started out as Cellular One, then became Bell Atlantic Mobile, then Verizon Wireless. It was still Cellular One when they released their first "digital" handset (the original Motorola flipper). Probably about eight years ago, mebbe more...

CellularOne was a service name that was used by GTE MobilNet and others in different markets. Southwestern Bell? Not even close, Southwestern Bell is SBC and what became half of Cingular Wireless. Sprint and Verizon Wireless are related. Sprint was originally Southern Pacific Telecom division which later sold to GTE and then GTE sold it to United Telecom aka US Telecom. Verizon Wireless is formed by PrimeCo, GTE Wireless, BellAtlantic Mobility and Vodafone Airtouch.
