I realize this may have been posted already, I just don't want to dig all through the pages of this forum. Does anyone know how much this phone will cost with signing a two year contract?

It will cost around $300 with a 1-year. And i've heard (only speculation) that it will be around $180 with a 2-year contract.

that actualy sounds possible. For a 2-yr it might be about $250 - $70 mail-in-rebate (as all of our camera pnohes have this now) equals $180. Well, who knows. We'll know when it is actualy in store & we can scan it.

I don't believe this phone will be that cheap. LG7000 which doesn't have MegaPixel, doesn't have expandable memory, doesn't have bluetooth is going for 249.99 with two years agreement. Of course $70.00 rebate will put it down to 180 or so. But V710 with all these option, will not be that cheap - atleast not for the first 2 to 3 months.

Actually, what's weird is that Verizon Wireless indirects which did have the VX7000 at $240 - $70 VZW Rebate - $50 Indirect rebate = $120 final cost now has the phone at $89 after rebate so the price for them has dropped to $209 before rebates are applied.

I'm thinking of buying this phone outright. I don't need another line. Is it generally the case that it's cheaper to buy a phone with a 2 year contract and then eat the $175 cancellation fee, rather than buying the phone outright?

With the price that this phone will most likely be @ full retail, you may be better off $-wise to cancel & restart. But then you would throw away your new-every-two $100 credit AND lose your number. I guess you could port-out to another carrier to keep your number, then port back in to VZW inside the other carriers tryuot period.

I already have 3 lines. I plan on putting this phone on one of them and doing the 'phone shuffle' to bump off the oldest phone. I've done this before and it's worked ok. I'm sure the CSR at my local store hates when I do this. It is a pain. But she's a sweetie. 🙂

It seems the Full Retail Prices of the higher end phones (pda's & smartphones excluded) have been coming down. The LG VX6000 started at $360 full retail, now it's down to $300. same for the Samsung A610 (was $380, now $240) and the Audiovox CDM-8900 (was $390, now $300). Full retail of the LG VX7000 is $350, I would most definetly expect the V710 to top that.

You can't port out of one company and port back in within that trial period from what I understand. I could be wrong though.

actually, I've seen it done. At least in the midwest area, ports into VZW are taking less than 20 minutes provided all information is accurate.

Hmm that's odd. I'm going to read up on that. I work for an inderect dealer and from what I remember when they told us about porting you couldn't port back.

I saw a T-Mobile to Cingular port take place in less than 5 minutes. Same with AT&T to Cingular. I was shocked.

yep. I have had a few people that I have signed up for VZW (I work for a corprate store) cancel thier plans by porting out, tryout a different company, then port back in. I know for a fact this works. It makes sense, Do you think VZW ( or whatever original carrier) would not like thier # and customer back?

I must say, this has proven to be a little humbling for customers who were convinced they could get a better phone or service or whatever with another carrier & then end up re-signing with VZW.

I've done it. Switched Verizon > Cingular. Cingular's service was horrible at home. Switched back to Verizon within 3 days. Ported back and forth just fine.

There is no way this phone will cost the same or less than the VX7000. The VX7000 is $250 with a 2 year agreement (without the $70 discount/rebate) and it doesn't have a 1.2MP camera, Bluetooth or a memory card slot. My original guess (which I'm still sticking by) was $300-$350 with a 2 year (excluding rebates) and $350-$400 with a 1 year (excluding rebates) and full retail around $500. Phone prices are always $50 more with a 1 year agreement than a 2 year so there could never been that much of a difference in price between the 1 year contract price and 2 year contract price unless you're counting the $100 credit as part of the New Every 2 program.

my GUESS would be probably about 3 hundred for a 1 year... and maybe just shy for a 2. (at MAX my guess would be 329.99 for a 2 year). It is still more consumer oriented than business oriented (for instance the pda's, blackberry) that typically run a large chunk of change.
