Ready to give up...

Welp, i've been dying to get a v710 so i could provide data connectivity to my Ipaq via BT, but it looks like a pipe dream if I want to stick with Verizon. So, I've come down to this..

I'm getting a new phone tomorrow... I love my Timeport 8767 to death, but it's just reached the end of it's life.. I wanted to replace it w/ a v710, but since we dont know when it will hit, i will do one of the following: either I will get a i600, or switch to sprint.

THe i600 looks nearly perfect for me. If it comes loaded with (or i can install) a terminal services client on it (thats why i want bt data... to term serv into servers @ work) I will buy the i600 tomorrow...

So whats the deal? Term svcs on the i600 or not?

Thanks!

Actually that would be TORMENTA. I have been one of the people gently encouraging him to cease and desist with the freaking caps. Perhaps you might take a moment to review the forum before you make such unfounded accusations.

I believe that "Windows Smartphone" OS is a chopped down version of PPC, and though PPC supports TS, I kinda doubt that SmartPhone will support TS. Also, it appears the i600 doesn't have a stylus, so even if it did support TS, navigation would be a nightmare.

Yah, prolly a little off topic, but felt the need to give my opinion to a good question. Good luck.

Thanks... appreciate the insight. Did not consider the stylus (or lack thereof) but you raise an excellent point!

Oh, and Ice-T, er... EZ-E... damn.. I mean EZ_B:

I was indeed wrong, you were the one who saved us all from the shouter. My apologies

Man, it was originally due "mid-2004", which was only 13 days ago. Everybody is restless because they have been waiting since they heard about it, but the thing is we have been waiting during a period it was not due to be out.

It's only 13 days late...give it a chance. (I don't even call it late if it's out ANY time in July....4 weeks is nothing).

Mike

I understand what you are saying, and you're right on. My problem is that i've been depending on some type of solid cell based data solution for too long.

My kids are 9,7 and 3, and i'm to the point where i want to be able to effectively work from anywhere... be it driving to a soccer game, sitting around a playground, or waiting on ...

Why not get some TracPhone temporarily and if the 710 ain't out within 4 weeks and zero idea as to when it will be out, then move on? Of course it depends on your true needs.

In my case I need bluetooth, want to stay with VZW and want tri-mode. So waiting for the 710 is a no-brainer for me (although I do not know what tune I'd be singing i...

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a TracPhone? I too love vzw's network coverage and tri-mode capabilities, just need data to top it off.

I'm just sick of dragging myself into manhattan in the swealtering heat and humidity daily when I could be oh, say on the beach, or in a park!

Does the Tracphone / prepay stuff support data access? If not, it probably won't fit his needs.

Hang in there jgb, the v710 will arrive soon. You have gone this far and survived, another couple weeks won't kill ya. I simply connect my Sammy a530 to my laptop when stuck with server issues out of office. Wires suck, but v710 should fix that ;) and EV-DO next year should make the speed more acceptable.

By the way, I thought I had read that the v710 was gonna be flash upgradable to EV-DO when it rolls out. Was this a pipe dream or did I actually read it and is it true? Anyone?

Also, I reccomend getting a tabletPC if your supporting systems and need that kind of access. I have run TS from an iPaq on my desktop, and it is still a pain to ...

Triple redundant and still managed to turn it off eh? I think I know this person 😳 he works at our other corp office location.

One thing is certain judging from your post - you have greater skills supporting high end systems, but I am clearly smarter 😲 I handed off the email and Exhange to our corp parent 10 months ago to let someone else deal with it! 🤣

Bluetooth is coming soon, 4 years after they made a big stink about it, but its finally showing up. Hang in there.

No, someone posted it. Either here or on HOFO. I remember reading it, too.

I'm not saying that nobody posted it, I'm just saying that it's not likely that it'll happen.
