Hey guys i saw this at the VZW website, i was wondering why the price for vid message will increase in sept, is this going to corralte with the release of any new phones/services?

Picture and Video Messaging - Airtime charges apply when sending, receiving or uploading messages to Pix Place. Pictures in excess of monthly allowance are $.25 each. Video Messages in excess of monthly allowance are $0.25 sent/received through 9/15/04. Begining 9/16/04 sending a video message will be $0.50 per message; receiving a video message will remain $0.25.

I think what it is is that they want people to be encouraged to use the service in the beginning. It's kind of like a grand opening of a store with everything on sale. Verizon will start at the same as the picture, but when video messaging starts to pick up, they will charge out the yazoo for it. Just like always. (Has anyone ever looked at their text messaging packages? You know what i mean then)

Yeah, plus I'm sure they don't really know how much it is going to be used. Since they will have only released a few devices with video messaging capabilities, there is a limit to the amount of customers they will be able to service with it. Theoretically they have to make it so that every one of their customers, whether they have a video phone or not, would be able to send these messages, so upkeep of the network vs. the amount they will be making off use of the technology will be lopsided as hell until maybe like a year from now when a lot more of their customers will be ready/eligible to upgrade.
