I bought my first v710 last year . not long after using it i noticed calls were being connected but i had no audio....could not hear the phone ringing,no voice nothing. then i tried turning the phone off and on; the audio would return when i placed calls. i could make 10 calls with no problem then all of a sudden, no audio again.
i finally took it in to a verizon store and the tech told me there was a new software upgrade . i left the phone with him, came back an hour later and he handed me a new phone. He told me the phone would not accept the upgrade. i took the new phone (gladly) and within a few days noticed the same problem with the audio. now I'm getting fired up....returned to the store, another tech looked at it, had no idea wha...

I seem to experience something similar although I was chalking it up to not switching cell towers and the like while moving. Symptoms the same. I did the SD flash upgrade which did everything it was supposed to do, w/no battery charge issues. Was not sure if it was the flash or not (I expect not). I have not switched phones yet and other than powering the phone off completely and repowering it on, I have not found anything that seems effective in dealing with the problem. You definitely are not the most unlucky person out there. You have a lot of company.

What did you ever do regarding your 710? I'm on my second one - just got the second one yesterday - and lost the audio after probably the 10th call. Shutting it off and turning it back on "fixes" it until the next time. Is there a software upgrade that addresses this problem?

I reported this issue to Verizon and posted a thread on PhoneScoop well over a YEAR ago.

I got the v710 on the first day it was available. I noticed that many times during the day, I'd place a phone call, only to find that the screen displayed "connected" but I could not hear any audio (no ringing, nobody picking up on the other end).

At first I thought the call wasn't going through - but I decided to test it by calling my home answering machine. Sure enough, when I checked my machine - there was a message from my cell phone and I could hear all of the ambient noise from the handset.
It turns out the calls WERE going through - and the person on the other end could hear me - but I could not hear them! This is even worse than the cal...

Dear ,

Thank you for contacting Motorola e-mail support, once again.

Regarding your concern, we are sorry to hear about the difficulties you have experienced with your Motorola V710 cellular phone.

You may want to try a Master Reset on your phone. If this difficulty is caused by incorrect settings, performing a Master Reset will correct this issue. This operation will reset all features back to the factory default settings and will not delete any phone book entry.

Thanks for the info.
I am very skeptical about whether a master reset will work, being that I have been through 3 v710's already and keep having this problem.

I'm curious to see how you fare.
Try using your phone on "Vibrate" only - as I find the issue occurs most often while in this mode.

Let us know how you do.

Thx.

I use my phone on vibrate only all the time when I'm at work. I have never experianced this issue. I have had my phone replaced about 4 times due ot physical defects in the phone, but never a no sound issue.

I was thinking maybe you were pressing the volume button accidentally and muting the audio, but I just tried that and set the earpeice volume to "0" and I still ...

I was wondering how people made out with the recommended procedure. I keep my phone on vibrate all the time. I don't use it much, but seem to run into the problem every week or so. Most of the time it's when I switch to speakerphone (for use in the car) but I'm pretty sure it's happened at other times as well.
