So I saw this thread on macosxhints.com

http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2005050 ... »

I'm not at home and can't test it, but anyone else want to confirm or deny that this works. There are some questions as to whether this works with Contacts or only iCal events (useless for me).

Note: Please read the comments. The directions apparently are not enough. You must replace the hex code after the usb-bt part, too.

😁 😁 😁 😁 It does work. all you need to do is:
1. Remove any attempted V710 connection from iSync and in the Bluetooth Preferences
2. right click (control click) on the iSync icon and choose show contents
3. Work your way to the Contents: PlugIns: ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice: Contents: PlugIns: PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin: Contents: Resources: folder and double click MetaClasses.plist
4. Open the file with text edit and search for V710
5. look for the line of code with a hex number and a reference to a usb driver and replace it with this: "com.motorola.usb-bt.0x22B8/0x4902" with no quotes.
6. Save the file
7. Now setup a new device in the bluetooth preferences.
8. Then attempt to connect to the V710 with iSync and that's it!!!!...

This is quite intriguing. Now, suppose iSync's package contents only show 2 folders ("MacOS" and "Resources"), and 3 files ("info.plist", "Pkginfo" and "version.plist"). The MacOS folder opens to show a single Unix Executable File called "iSync". The Resources also contains no "Plugins" file. Am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks.
Peace,
K

I get the same iSync contents folder as Yaoski. I'm running OS 10.3.9 and iSync 1.5 (v139).

Don't see any Plugins folder.

Anyone have any ideas why?

Tks.

Sorry, didn't mention that I'm running the same OS and iSynch versions as Roadshow.

cmon people pay attention. on the MacosXhints.com website the hint is titled

10.4: Add Motorola V710 Bluetooth support to iSync

at the end there is a note

'I've only tested this with the 10.4 version of iSync. "

I can sink with my G4 and 10.4.1, but why does the email address from the V710 appear in a work phone # field?

Do I need to custom match the fields? from the phone to the Calendar in Mac OS?

I followed the steps, was able to pair my phone and then attempted to sync and got the message: "This device is not support by iSync". I must have done something wrong. This is the line of code I inserted into the Metaclasses.plist: com.motorola.usb-bt.0x22B8/0x4902

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I have a powerbook with bluetooth...if you do this workaround can you transfer music files?

Also, I have a new V710 and the software will not allow you to move files from the trans-flash card to the phone. When you email them to the phone from yournumber@vtext.com they are compressed and sound like crap. If you know of a workaround it would be greatly appreciated.
