Motorola V710

expandable memory card

I want to buy a memory card for the v710, and I have seen some conflicting information. I know the transflash card will work in the v710, but what about the mini-sd card. I have seen some threads talking about the mini-sd card and some threads saying that the mini-sd card is not compatible with the v710. Which is it?

Don't know what a mini-sd card is. If memory serves me correctly, it may eventually become the same as Transflash. For now, however, I'd play it safe. Get a Transflash card.

There are three types of SD card
standard plane jane SD card
for digital cams, mp3 players etc
Mini SD
for certial phones, CDM8940 etc.
Micro SD (aka transflash SD standerdized it)
for other phones, V710 etc.

The mini-SD card is much too big for the V710.

Basically, the SD card I am sure you know it's size. The mini-SD is about 1/4 that size (cut the SD card in half length-wise, then again width-wise and you have a miniSD). The transflash card that fits the V710 is about the size of the fingernail on your pinky.

The MiniSD card is about twice the size of transflash. Sandisk developed the transflash card format. The SD standards group recently approved the transflash design as the new microSD format. Presumably other phone and memory manufacturers will eventually adopt the MicroSD card.

At any rate the V710 uses transflash/MicroSD memory cards.
