V710 and Acura Handsfree Link

bherpin

I just bought an Acura MDX which has a Bluetooth handfree link. At present, they do not recommend the V710 as it somethimes fails to answer an incoming call and will occasionally not allow outgoing calls.

I use Verizon and this is the only (reasonablly) priced Bluetooth phone.

Does anyone know if the recent software version 8700_01.40.0R upgrade fixes any of the problems with Bluetooth?

Thanks.

The Acura TL's "phonebook" isn't really a phonebook. All it can do is match a recorded voice file to a 10 digit phone number and send it to the phone as an outbound call. It has no caller ID, does not display names of incoming/outgoing calls, has no custom ringtones, no email addresses, in short.....no nothing.

If the MDX works the same way, you are out of luck.

I'll post this V710 carkit compatibilty link in case you haven't seen it:

I have the latest software on my V710 and linked to an Acura TL. The improvements include showing the signal strength but there is a 4-5 second lag between the time I answer the call and when the caller hears me. I do not have this problem on my Lexus GS300, but wish the Lexus had voice commands like Acura has. Acura is dead wrong about the V710 not working correctly. I've been using mine for more than one year. Just make sure you do not set the phone to vibrate, just set it to standard ring and you'll be OK.

The voice function works quite well, agreed. The problem is that the Acura TL's "phonebook" isn't really a phonebook. All it can do is match a recorded voice file to a 10 digit phone number and send it to the phone as an outbound call.

Most of the other integrated car kits keep a phonebook synchronized with your handset, for display on the console.
