NEW SOFTWARE

JUST SO THAT EVERYONE IS AWARE, WHEN YOU GET THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. YOU CAN NO LONGER MOVE MP3 FILES TO YOUR PHONE TO USE AS RINGERS, BUT YOU CAN STILL CHOP THE SONG WITH A WAVE EDITOR, THEN SEND THEM TO YOUR PHONE AS A PIC MESSAGE, AND THEN SAVE THE SOUND. BASICALLY THE SAME THING AS BEFORE, BUT IT COSTS YOU 2 PIC MESSAGES.

Here are a few things that I ran accross when updating to the new Verizon Flash.

I DID back up my directories to MPT -- but found that the directory enties did NOT get lost. The saved ring tones on the phone did NOT get lost either -- but the links betwen the ringtones and the contacts did get scrambled -- and I had to re-link to the correct ring tone for each contact that used a custom ringtone.

If you do the seem edits to re-establish File Moves and Bluetooth, Moving works OK after powering down and back up again -- but linking Bluetooth to MPT was a pain using MPT's normal method. It seems that their discovery method only works if you're using a Motorola BT adapter!!

Read this for the 'how-to' for using V710 BT with other BT USB ...

😳 😲 This is beyond absurd. I can't believe all the aggravation one has to go through over a stupid phone. I am sooooooooooooooooooo happy I chose not to go with the 710. Otherwise, not only would I be pulling my own hair out but also the person next to me 😳 😲

I'm upset with Verizon -- but with this stuff it's all about the thrill of the chase, and seeing what you can learn. If you look at it in that framework, it's no big deal .... it's just fun to see if you can do it.

With most engineers that's the way it is -- it drives us nuts, but it's a pretty short drive anyway!

I agree. The "see what you can learn" part has been great. Before the V710, I knew practically nothing about Bluetooth, CDMA cell phones, hacking of Motorola software, business practices of phone vendors and service providers, arbitration, class action lawsuits, any of that stuff.

What began as another phone purchase turned out to be much more, but it was worth it to me and "Updating to 1.40.OR" has solved most of my personal issues. The outcome of Class vs. Verizon will be interesting, so I'll keep following the issues in this thread.

At least we're moving forward. It sure beats just sitting here and grousing about it. The right mindset can make almost anything fun.

And the wrong person nagging us and complaining about a phone he doesn't even have can blow at least part of that fun away.

How do you know I do not have the phone? Just because I say I don't doesn't mean I don't have it. Did it ever occur to you that maybe I do have the phone but so dissatisfied with it that I have no problem expressing the honest truth about it? You'll never know. But then again maybe I'll have you thinking that I have the 8000. OR could it be possible that I have both phones and I can clearly see the difference and IMHO I feel the V710 sucks. I have a right to my opinion. 🤣
