are u sure that will work. you will have to manually program it using 74663#menu menu and then nam1 and the rest of the info you would have to get from verizon. You will ned to get the system id and amps id from verizon and see if your MIN is the same as your MDN (your phone number).

I was reading that only the US Cellular version of the firmware has OBEX and Motorola claims that it does / does not, depending on who you talk to.

Has anyone seen an Alltel V710 with OBEX?

Where you can copy or move a picture or a file from your phone to another device, like another phone or a computer.

You would see that option from the Copy command.

Hmmmmm, I'm not going to get excited just yet. I have an Alltel v710 and I've been told that we (Alltel users) can send info BT via mobile phone tools, but I don't know about w/o. My IT dept at work took the airport card outta my iBook before I left on Thursday, but when I get back to work on Wednesday I'll check. But my guess is, if that were the case (if we had OBEX) EVERYBODY would be talking about it.

The word from one Motorola tech was that Alltel had crippled Bluetooth (almost as bad as Verizon) but US Cellular did not.

Does anyone have a USCC V710 who can test for existence of OBEX?

I am hoping that the USCC file transfer works like this:

Well, from reading Hofo, Phonescoop and v70.org, I know first hand that my Alltel v710 is in no way as limited as Verizon's version and there are a few things that it appears our version will do that USC's will not. They seem to have to do a "trick" to get the ringtones that they make to apply that we (Alltel users) do not...minor, but difference nevertheless. But for the most part, I believe they are very similiar, at least they appear so.

Besides, we both know that that Motorola tech is incorrect, as many Verizon v710 customers have flashed their phones with Alltel firmware. If ours were just as messed up that act would be pointless. From reading the USC forum on Hofo, it doesn't appear that their version has OBEX...if they did they'd be screaming it from the mountain tops and everybody would jump ship for USC.
