I just got the v710 and I was wondering if you still have to cycle the battery to get it to fully charge?

Do you have to charge for 24 hours, drain completely and repeat? or is that a thing of the past?

Thanks for your help.

It might be a good idea to let it drain out all the way and then fully charge it up. I did the following, and get a good three to four days of charge out of it, with basic talk time per day at 3-4 hours. Companies might have improved their battery technology.

Tips you may also want to follow:

- Purchase a package of PDA protectors for the interior LCD screen.

- The top joint of the phone will rub with the TF card slot cover. You may want to buy a skin off the net, or find a heavy duty protector.

Are you saying you get 3-4 DAYS of charge and TALK 3-4 hours PER DAY between charges? In other words: 9-16 HOURS of talk-time between charges??

Give or take a few hours, the total comes to about 8 hours of talk time between charges. I can make running count this week and get back to you on an exact number.

I rarely use the camera, and don't currently use the bluetooth headset. I would estimate that the majority of the battery life gets drained through those features.

Please do let me know. My experience with talk time on CDMA is that it tends to run about 2 hours before charging is needed. If you're getting 8 hours between charges...well, I'll be pretty impressed. Thanks.

One thing more: are you powering-up ONLY when you're going to talk or do you leave it in standby on occasion?

Do not, under any account, drain your batteries completely. Except sometimes people say that you are supposed to do that to a new battery. But others say that's a load of crap and you shouldn't. I think that it may be advice left over from NiCad and NiMH batteries. I generally don't, but I could be wrong.

Do, however, make sure that you top your battery off before you start using the phone. Nobody disagrees with that.

With normal usage, have your phone plugged in whenever convenient. LiIon batteries don't have the memory effect, so they can be recharged as often as you want, and, in general, will last longer that way.

There's a lot of mysterious crap going around about batteries and how to make them last longer. When I was yo...
