What does the elusive V710 new firmware actually fix?

It seems that everyone is waiting for a new firmware rev for their V710 but I haven't been able to find information on exactly what FEATURE this new firmware will enable or what BUGS this new firmware will FIX.

I just picked up my V710 on Nov 15th and I'm having second thoughts. The camera images look pretty crappy but I haven't tried it in the daylight yet. The image isn't tilted... that seems to be OK but the pictures are very grainy, very poor in detail, and looks like pics from a low-budget cheap webcam. In fact, my cheap webcam looks much better than this POS.

As for bluetooth, it seems brain dead and not fully functional. Yeah, it works with the bluetooth headset but thats about it. Is it me or is it this V710? So far, I'm ...

how many calls has the PHONE dropped the other problems might or might not get fixed the t720 never functioned properly but that was the phone part

the v710 is an awesome phone just not the best camera and the bluetooth is functional depending on what you wanted the bluetooth to do -- I personally wanted to use it as a modem for my palm and laptop -- works perfectly for that -- the headset and voice dialing are without compare. as a phone it has no peer i have ever held. not the best camera

as to what the firmware will fix -- only the people who have it know -- motorola and verizon there are a lot of things it might fix -- software may upgrade the images taken by the camera -- may un-restrict the obex profile -- may disable the tran...

interesting post..

dropping calls? ive had this phone since day one and havent dropped any calls.

as far as the firmware upgrade, I thought they were going to try to fix some of the bluetooth functionality, the picture quality, and little other things like speakerphone functionality while the phone is closed, etc...

when you talk about disabling the transflash? are you serious??? how can they do this when so many people have already invested in these cards, card readers etc...plus they are coming out with a 256mb card.

i hope youre kidding about disabling flash, or im misunderstanding what you were saying.

I would not put the transflash-disable past them. I would like to sincerely hope that there will be no changes to it, but they could just do something like they've done with Bluetooth. They state you can connect the v710 to your computer via Bluetooth and since you can use it as a modem, they haven't lied, just not given out all the info up front. They could make it where the transflash card could just be used for storage of pictures and ringtones, but disable the feature to transfer back and forth between PC and phone with the transflash. Again, they wouldn't being lying because you can still use the transflash, but it's abilities would be reduced to allow for more $$ via Get It Now, Pix, etc...

Now, before any VZW employees or anyon...

spiff - How did you get the v710 to function with your Palm? I have the Tungsten T3 w/bluetooth and although it discovers the v710, if I use the dialer application, it claims that I have the wrong driver. Also, the v710 (being very new) doesn't show up in the list of phones on the Palm. Thanks!

You should do a search and find all the different way's you can use the blue-tooth functions. I think you will find that it is not a crippled as you think. Many people on this site give great advice and can help you find solutions to most of you questions.

You may want to look at adjusting the camera's setting. I have it set up as nigh and have have noticed an improvement in the picture quality. If you have a transflash card when you remove the picture from the phone adjust the brightness and the image looks a lot better.

You need to remember that it's a phone and I would much rather have clear calls than clear pictures. The camera is for more off the wall spur of the moment pictures.

No I'm not.
Just a very well researched and informed consumer. I did a ton of research on this phone and new what I was getting when I bought it.

I have also used this site for ton's of useful information and have learned how to work this phone to my advantage. If you come off with a negative sounding post people will tend to back off and not be as willing to help. If you ask a question in a more positive way you would be shocked at how many people are will to answer your questions. I have owned this phone from pretty much day one and have loved of second of it.

I have read you other post and I will admit I have thought about switching phone providers many times. Seeing all the other phones and deals out there but all I have to do is ...
