No i dont think you can have it closed when ur using speaker phone cuz ive tried it and it hung up on the person. I really wish u could have the phone closed tho.

get the bluetooth, it works awesome! Well although you cannot hear an mp3 ringtone, it just beeps when an incoming call comes in

You can hack the phone to allow usage of the speakerphone with the flip closed. I have not tried - do it at your own risk.
