I bought my phone at Radio Shack originally (as they had it quite a long time before Verizon). I have the same firmware that everyone else has posted they have. Last night I stopped by a Verizon store in the mall the guy there told me that if I bought the phone at Radio Shack they wouldn't touch it - I should have bought it from Verizon. I told him Verizon was my carrier and if they wanted everyone to buy their new phone from Verizon they shouldn't have let Radio Shack carry it in advance of Verizon. Bottom line is he told me Verizon wouldn't update my phone, that it was a Radio Shack problem. Of course, when I called Radio Shack they told me to take the phone to any Verizon dealer to check for updates. Anyone have any experience in th...

that verizon guy is full of crap!the only thing different from the phone from RadioShack is the box with the different upc label the tag on the back of the phone.verizon will "touch the phone" that dude is full of it ,the reason they said they wont touch it is because it takes a long time to do update the phone and he works on commision and would get nothing out of it.as far as the line about RadioShack being responsible thats not true either ,i work at radioshack i would know.we cannot do the update because we dont have the machine that verizon uses to do the update.we have very limited access to the verizon system.the only thing we can do is activate new lines that verizon then takes responsibility for. so dont let stupid teenagers tell yo...

I believe you are 100% correct - regardless it's a Motorola phone on the Verizon network, regardless of where I purchased it I would expect either Motorola or Verizon to be responsible for 'software' updates. Anyway, I had already concluded that the guy was full of it - but thanks for the addl info/confirmation.

verizon will flash the phone -- next time ask to talk to a manager and shove this guys crap down his throat -- i have bought phones from e-bay and from motorola directly and everytime verizon has fixed the phones when they broke or flashed the t720 when the firm ware sucked ( alot) the people in the store have almost always been helpful and understood that with out customers they are begging for cardboard and a black marker

so next time ride the butt out of the store

just to add, when you go into a verizon store they usually have tech service in the back... go to them, not the sales people who are bitter that you bought your phone elsewhere, if u dont get what you want, ask for a manager like the other post says
