Text Messaging to Email for Cingular

I recently bought this phone and this is the first time I have had trouble sending a text message to an EMAIL address. I get "invalid contact detail". With other Nokia phones it was easy. I've tried the same steps as with my other phones. Besides sending an email as a Multimedia message(which does work), can anyone help me figure out why it won't let me. I've tried it on two 6620's from Cingular and neither work. Is it a software issue? Please Please help me!! 😢

You may want to try Messaging-Options-Settings-Text Message...then check to make sure send as text message is on and that it has a message center selected, you may also want to try customer care if that doesn't work but call from your house phone.

I've tried all of the above. I was on the phone with Cingular as well as Nokia and neither could help. I've sent the message the same way I would on other nokia phones but it doesn't work that way right now. Hopefully it's just a cingular thing at the moment. Any other suggestions are welcome!!! Please help!

i work for cingular. if you call and ask to speak to the data support line they should be able to help you get the phone working. You need to set up ur e-mail settings. to send e-mails. and text to send text. u can't send a e-mail from the text part of the phone. and yes the phone will connect to the internet to send the e-mail but if it's under a certain size it will be cahrged as a text messge. so you need to make sure you have internet provisioned on your account with cingular and if so make sure you can connect to it. it's called MEdia NET... or something like that. i couldn't send e-mails and could send text and surf the web. i changed my e-mail settings and worked great. EDGE rocks below i've enclosed some instrucitons to help you. MA...

yeah, this is a funky issue for most handsets with a dedicated email clinet, and is not limited to Cingular. i have the same experience using my SE T637 with Cingular and my NOKIA 6600 with T-Mobile.

i miss the good old days of NOKIA Series 40 which would allow you to opt sending format as email one step before selecting the recipient. my MOTO V300 is the only handset i currently use which can send a standard SMS to an email address outside of the email client.

best recommendation is to take advantage of the email client in conjunction with a MEdia service add-on. this will be the easiest method to send to an email address quickly, but your recipient must reply to or send directly to [YOUR#]@mobile.mycingular.com, or you will need t...

You need to send messages to the email gateway at phone number 111. Then make the email address the start of your message.

e.g.

To: 111
bill@microsoft.com hi there.

Try 121 in the to field not 111. 121 works for me. A Cingular Rep walked me through this.

Ex:

to: 121
message field: anybody@aol.com this is a test message.
