Backlit keypad?

Is the keypad for this phone suppose to be backlit, or has it been disabled on purpose?

Go to Menu/Display/Backlight/Keypad and it gives you the option of 5, 10, 15 seconds or Folder Open. The User Guide has it too.

I was going to take the phone back to the store to fix it or exchange it, but then I saw a User Review that said one of the cons is that the Keypad isn't backlit.

Ok, I found the answer in another forum:

There's another Item in Backlight, below the Keypad selection, called "Power Save". Turn Power Save off, now the keypad backlight works.

The User's Guide only talks about the LCD display affected by the Power Save Option, not the keypad. 🙄

Spoke too soon...
It doesn't work again, even with the Power Save turned off. I guess I'll take it in. ☚ī¸

My Samsong a650 overheats and I was thinking of exchanging it for a LG 4500. Do other people have this problem with overheating? What phone would you suggest?

I don't know if I'd sweat the 'overheating' issue too much... I have a very similar phone to the 650 (a Samsung 530), and its keypad also gets warm during a long phone call.

But warm is it... never gets truly hot, no damage to the phone or me. I think its just that the phone is so small, there just isn't much between you and the battery/circuitry.

agreed...the lg's get alittle warm too
its just that they are becoming very thin in plastic and the batteries are actually getting bigger and deliver more power

that because you have in on to "folder open" turn that feature off and but it on "5" or "10" this way it is only on for that many seconds, not the whole call.

Make sure Power Save is turned off, and use in the dark... The keypad is backlit. It's actually a dull green instead of the "Brilliant Blue" that a lot of us have become used to. I actually like this over the blue, it's a lot easier on the eyes in the dark.
