Ok here's the deal, I was outside and i had my phone off of my holster but not in the direct sunlight for a few hours and later today, it was working fine and everything and then i logged onto Get It Now and i was about to download a free application and as i was about to download it, my phone said application process failed please try again later so i though ok let me just try that again and when i tried it again, my phone completely shut off. Now, this does happens sometimes but this time when i went to turn it back on, my phone is in a cyle. Basically ill turn it on, the red LED light will come on, then turn off, then the screen along w/ the keypad will light up and for a few seconds, and the welcome noise will go on. But then, my phone w...

See my previous post.

I had THREE new a670s that did this. Although, nothing ever got it to stop, and the techs could fix them either. Just replaced them.

I got the impression I was not the first person to come in with it.

I suspect it had something to do with trying to use a picture of my own for the open/shutdown screens - did you recently change those.

I had hope that the firmware release would fix it, but I couldn't actually get two service centers to install it.

Not sure I understood - did it work when in the charger, or it is still just cycling all the time ?????

They had absolutely no clue at the stores, you might get lucky. They just kept giving me new ones. It was a little funny at first, four phones in four months, but then I got tired of it.

Went down to an A650 eventually.

If I hadn't gotten the phonebook manager, I would not have found it as funny.

You could ask them if there is a hard reset (button) somewhere, but even if that gets the phone back, the phonebook will be gone.

If you ever get an answer out of them, I'm curious.

You may be hosed.

Do NOT let them tell you it was abused - my phones lived very pampered lives - this is their problem.

My phone has been pampered since day one also. I am not going to let them tell me that either and if they do tell me that, I am going to fight them on it. When i put my phone on the charger, it does say charging and it stops cycling, b ut it is when i go and turn it on that it starts to cycle.

Well, good luck, I bet they shrug and give you a new phone. Each phone costs them, like a nickel.

Invest in the phonebook manager ........... still an annoying amount to reconfig, but the phonebook is the bulk of it.

If they try and switch you to another phone (VX?000 in my case I think), expect them to replace all you accesories (desk charger, leather case, etc)

Well, I expect them to give me another 670 if they cant fix my phone. Theres' no possible way to transfer all ofmy pictures is there. I know my contacts can be transfered right? I just want them to be ablt to fix my phone that i have and not have to get another phone. I love my 670 it's always been good to me!

Well, no, my guess is that they will not get anything off your phone (unless the are smarter than the techs at the two stores I went to).

It might be possible for someone to reload the phone firmware from scratch, but that would just get your original phone back, but empty.

Else you get a new empty one.

Give it a try, maybe they are smarter about it now.

Ok, if the techs can't fix my phone, they would just give me another phone? How does that work exactly?

How long have you had it ????

I think less than a year they shouldn't argue with you, this is what our "company" rep told me:

"Insurance has to be added within the first 7 days of owning the phone, But the cost of insurance is 6.00 a month anyways. The phone is covered for a year if it is the phones fault for it being defective and before the end of the year you could add an extended warranty at a local retail store to cover you in the second year of the contract."

yeah, the were more than happy to keep giving them to me.

The fourth time, I said I don't want this p.o.c. and they want to give me a similar camera phone, but I asked for the a670.

They should definitely give you another 670 if you want one.

Well, I finally went to Verizon today, told them the story and i basically got a new phone. I lost everything and now ive got to call up 611 and talk to someone from Get It Now about them creditingme my money for all of my ringers. The tech guy thought that i dropped my phone like a thousand times and when i told him that i never did he said... impossible!

also, when you first got your phone. the first night that you charged it, did you charge it over night just to "open up the battery cells" or just charged it for the 3-4 hours?

a) I charged it till the green light came on

b) LOL - GIT now credit. New story. You have (at least this was the story they gave me) download the apps to the new phone first, then they will credit you. I guess they are afraid you won't reup them.

LOL, anyway the credit didn't show up, and I spent 30 minutes arguing with some pinhead on the phone before I figured out her problem was that she didn't understand the difference between a "credit", and a "debit" - she thought that they were the same thing.

That's funny. Yeah that's what the guy told me so im downloading all of my applications again so that they can be credited. It kind of feels like free rringers and wallpapers in a sense. Should that feel wrong? 🙂 🙂 😁

Crazy customer eh? I've already got some downloaded ringers and a wallpaper on my phone. Same as last time. With the wallpaper, I downloaded PictureZ and accidentallly after having downloaded the wallpaper, I delelted the icon from my Get It Now folder and deleted the wallpaper along w/ it. I still paid for it so i downloaded it again but obvioulsy i wont' make the same mistake twice. I got a brand new phone and the keys feel a little bit different, the flip is a little bit tighter, and the software seems to run a little bit faster but it is a new phone.

i can't find it on their web site.

it is the cable and software to allow your phone to act as a modem for your laptop. it came with a phonebook manager.

there are probaby other ways to do it if you had the cable.

software and cable were about $35
