Viewing imported movies

There are a number of free programs out there that let you convert movies on your computer into files that can be viewed on your phone (or PSP, ipod, etc..).

- what video formats does the Droid support? and assuming it supports multiple, which seems to be the best quality?

- which specific program is the most recommended to convert these video files? and what settings are needed?

Basically, I (and probably many others) would like to know exactly how to get killer-looking videos onto our killer phone with the killer screen! Thanks in advance.

😁 Newbie here. After my research, I found a great program called Videora. http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/motoro la-droid/. It's free. They also have downloads for other phones too. In order to convert your dvds to MPEG4 or H264 format, you'll need the DVD Decrypter program to rip your movies. Also free. I suggest downloading Videora 1st if you don't have either programs. Videora has the directions and the settings you have to adjust on the DVD Decrypter program along with the link to download dvd decrypter too. You'll find the directions for converting dvds and the link to dvd decrypter in the DVD converter button on the main screen of videora. Just press dvd convert and it will give you step by step instructions on how to convert yo...

I use a program called "Handbreak" and use the preset for the iphone and the pictures come out crisp and clear.

Basically you want the video to be 480xSomething (forget second number) Since there is currently no Divx support, MP4 seems to work well.

Handbrake.... is awesome.

480x854 is the Droids official screen resolution.
480x800 should be fine for your movies.

I have IronMan from DVD via Handbrake into
MP4 format, video file ended up being 400mb
for the full film, and worked on the Droid and on my old Blackberry storm 9530

Handbrake is great.
Stick with MP4, its the most recognized codec
on most of the new devices.

Glad I found this thread. I just bought the HANGOVER DVD and want to watch it on my phone. I have the digital copy that came with the disc currently in my iTunes library. I have to now figure out how I can put it on my phone. I do have compression software to compress and change formats but I am wondering if its already in a format ready for the iPhone and iPod Touch shouldn't it be ready for our phones as is too in terms of the codec and the format it is in???
